Has Texas ever tried a ban on hog hunting. Have heard it did but can't find anything to support this.

I'm asking if it has ever had a ban. Getting worried here in Missouri and was wondering how it effected the state if it did have one. What are you seeing in Tennessee since the ban.

No, there’s never been a ban on hog hunting in Texas.
They did ban using dogs in the Sam Houston National Forest about 9 years back... now there’s more hogs out there than ever before.

Mike that’s one thing I’ve noticed. Ive never heard of any “quota” hunts at any of these WMA or NF in Texas. See stuff about them all the time In Miss. Georgia and Florida. Wonder why that is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wonder why that is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You don’t hear about any quota hunts in MS, bc there isn’t such, there’s a few opportunities to hunt some WMA’s during deer season that have a deer dog season and then the month of February you can hunt a few WMAs and there’s a few loopholes that allow us to hunt some of the national Forests during the summer months while its legal to run nuisance animals, Fla has it going on, they have 3 days seasons on sporadic WMAs all over the state during the summer, I’m planning on a trip over there to hunt some and see how it is in a month or two, I know when MS first allowed hog dog hunting on the Sunflower WMA which is inside the Delta NF there was so many hogs that if you didn’t catch at least a dozen then you had better re evaluate your pack, now that they’ve had the season for several years now, hog numbers aren’t anywhere close to where they used to be and can be difficult to find now where as it used to be just pull over on side of the road and cast your dogs it wouldn’t be long before they had one bayed...
