What’s the Best most consistent lines of make the best hogdogs and aren’t shy or scared to grad a hogs ear. Give me opinions please.  Personally I like wager, the old dar’bonne blood, wishbone bloodlines.

I’ve always heard good things about the Dennison dogs over the years. My old gyp that I breed all my dogs back to is a Darbonne dog.

Darboone was some great blood. I had a line bred darboone dogs that were baying at 8 weeks and finding hogs at 7 months. Wish I still had them

If I’m not mistaken, Sam Mason’s old Buster dog was off the Darbonne dogs, he is the foundation to a lot of the good woods and using strains, the Dennison dogs go back to him and certain wager strains, and I could be wrong again but I think the Darbonne dogs were a lot of the foundation of the original Wager dogs...

The cur blood I have goes back to two grand pups off of buster, my dogs go back to crosses off those two dogs bred to some local cow stock that’s been used and bred around here for a while working cows and hog hunting...

Danny Drinkard in Alabama has a lot of the Dennison dogs along with Don Bradford also from Alabama, I’ve never hunted with or met either but have heard good things about them and their dogs from folks I think highly of their opinion, I don’t have any contact info for either, they were both on Facebook when I was on it, we bred a dog out of Danny’s dogs that was a really good dog even in his old age, he was a one out dog and real catchy, if he heard or smelled you coming he would catch out but was smart about it because he died of old age and was hunted fairly hard in his life...

Another man to contact who breeds probably the best registered catahoulas is Craig Boling from daholenga Ga, he’s a purest in true form when it comes to breeding registered dogs and his dogs are also off the Dennison/Wager/Buster dogs and are a family of curs that’s been bred up for along time, they’re the real deal as far as hunt and range go, he’s also on Facebook, or was...

I’ll be making a cross in the upcoming year that’s an aunt to nephew that should make some real nice dogs, the sire to the gyp is the grandfather to the male and is a complete outcross, he was an exceptional dog and through some nice pups and some that were mediocre , and they go back to the same cur family several times on top and bottom, it’s just an experiment, I bred the male to the mother of this gyp I’m going to breed and that was a firecracker cross, so I’m expecting some nice dogs out of this, they should have good grit but not suicidal or bay breaking rough, they got a good bit of stock breeding in them and all usually work hogs good, your welcome to try one, not making any guarantees that they’ll be super stars but I’d almost be willing to bet the farm they going to work, how good they’re at it is in the eye of the beholder...

What was the name of the family that
ran a lot of cattle and hogs in the piney woods up in northwest la, that had a good family of working and using dogs, this was before Buster was ever born, story I was told was they wouldn’t sell a dog around them, they sold a lot to hands in Georgia and sent some to Texas, I don’t know which areas of the states, for some reason I was thinking it was the Darbonnes...

I sent them a female that I raised, she was a great granddaughter to buster on top and bottom, her parents were half siblings, she was partially deaf, both her parents had a lot of white and so did she, Mr. Mackie was going to cross her under some of the blood they have...

I grew up in bastrop. I’m 48, when I was like 10 my step father got me a catahoula. He was Merle. We named him Smokey. I loved the dog. But that dog bit the mailman every time he saw him once he turned bout 9 months old. One day I came home from school and Smokey wasn’t there my stepdad gave me the story of he had to find a nice farm for him to live on... looking back yeah right!?!
Lol
But I did end up with two fiest pups out the deal and they were really good dogs

Got it, thanks, she’s the last of her litter and we can’t make anymore, her mother died about 3 weeks out from having pups off the Dennison male we had and her sister I kept got hit on the highway and her brother that my buddy kept got killed, I’d like to get her back in a year or so just to raise a litter off her and one of these f1 walker crosses I got, whichever one I like the most, they are 2nd cousins two times to her...
