My friend of nearly 21 years called me up. Said he got permission to put dogs on the preconditioning yard he works at outside Caldwell. I loaded sketch, loco, and a pup we call Crawshaw and headed out. Got there and turned loose right at sundown 15 minutes later were dragging a big ole snaggletooth out of a tank. Went about as smooth as you could ever ask a hog hunt to go. Pup got a decent cut in his chest but nothing a little vetericyn and some time off can’t fix. Decided to call it a win and put dogs up for the night. Road around for a while spotlighting with no luck. Had a beer or 2 and called it a night. I’m learning to love these kind of hunts I’ve been having lately. Ole smiley finally got his big boar hog he been waiting for me to put him on. Thanks guys. He’s definitely a top 5 for me. Haven’t even cleared the 250 mark yet in almost 5 years of hunting on a boar hog but I’m sure my day is coming. These toothy 220s are my favorite so far!
