Sorry for the long read but be something good to read while you doing paperwork in the bathroom Grin or whatever lmao
Well this summer been a lil ruff as after reading a few of yalls post I think it has for everyone.
My shovel is tired of getting used and Im tired of using it. My hog dog cemetery grew a lot over the past few weeks.
I drowned my phone this weekend and fixing to get another one and Ill post some pics.
Like most everyone else this time of year around here is when we catch most of our big hogs. Well this year has natural born worked on us.
we have caught some good hogs but we have had some terrible luck also

few weeks ago got a chance to go to a high rent plantation and ran a big boar off a protein feeder when we pulled up, so we took our time collared dogs while the grounds keeper is looking at us like we stupid and jumping around cause we aint in no hurry to get the dogs out lol
I told him just calm down we got this...let that tht big hog run down there and cool off and let that protein settle in his stomach I got something for him, well this is one them days I shoulda kept my mouth shut.!!
Dumped RED Jesse and Dennis-they took the track and sat up bayed bout 350-he broke and long story short swam the river and we been getting pile of rain and the river is pretty high-so NO Swimming- so we watched the dogs bay across the river got some good video-waiting on my buddy and his boat- and they started tighten up the bay and got to close!- they tried him and he wrecked my jesse dog and she drowned right in front of me right before we had the boat to us-got dogs off and the hog drowned cause it was steep bank and deep holes with good current - I looked for the hog several days and never could find him. that sucks not getting the hog. Ol Jesse was a good dog I miss that red hefer . RiP ol girl- she was a good nose dog that I counted on all the time-you really don't know how much a dog means to you and your pack till you lose one and realize how much that dog did for you-Im happy I got to hunt you ol girl- her and Ol Red pups are gonna try and fill your shoes but they better put their game face on!! Have fun up their in hog dog heaven-

Here is another story from this past Saturday 8-4-18
Still kinda struggling cause I lost my Jesse dog and my ol Red dog done got old and could tell he bout done esp cause him and jesse were boyfriend and girlfriend lol and hunting partners-tracking partners-they worked extremely well together-I could tell he knew she was gone and I felt like he threw in the towel but he could cause he wasn't but 13 years old and has gave me his all for long time and I got some trashy plott dogs that I can run if I needed them but Grin- my A team is gone- so I picked up a track dog from a friend of mine......
pulled up to the field and seen two big hog tracks walked edge of field since the rain the night before- put Rose and Hellen on it and they took off I could tell they smelled it- went bout 350 and jumped- they ran the hog round and round alil bit and I seen the hog come out in the field- it thick as crap in this head-this ol boy knew what he was doing and was trying to loose them- I hollered send me them trashy plott dogs- Grin- them boys sent me Dennis Snake and Aunt jemima - they fell in and got in the race-they ran round and round and round and sat up bayed- sent the bulldogs an ol mr boar hog found what he was looking for and caught ol big sow bout 220- dogs relayed off her and jumped the boar again ran round and round again and sat up bayed finally - at this time there was only three dogs on this hog- cut two off at one point to let em rest to use em again if needed- so this big boar hog sat up bayed with Snake Aunt jemima and Rose- we get close I don't hear but two dogs baying but gps show all three here- I said boys something aint right- anyway sent the bulldogs and it was thick as it could be and we on a good hog keep in mind-he shook em!-this aint good at all cause these bulldogsdo pretty good and have caught some big hogs- hog came running by me- I done put my eyes on this hog 3 times now- he every once of 300 lbs plus some- my two plott dogs Snake and Aunt Jemima came strolling by us on the hog rear end but no Rose-she still showing sitting down where the hog left- we catch up the bulldogs and I told the boys follow them dogs Im gone check on Rose- ease in there and looking at gps-thick as crap I step on her and hear he holler- knell down the see her on her side with guts and all not where they are pose to be so I try putting here guts back in and couldn't so wrapped her up in my shirt and carried her out- called the boys and said don't worry bout my plott dogs bring me the fourwheeler - got to the truck with rose and hauled ass to the vet- Basically he said I wasting my money- she gone- so he put her down- haul butt back to where we hunting and the boys done got the sow loaded up and waiting on me-by this time there is 3 dogs out,Snake Aunt Jemima and Sugar (sugar is a dog of my buddy)
so I say ok lets go pick these dogs up and go home Ive had enuff- look at garmin and Snake and Aunt Jemima are .65 off and lost communication-so head to them and pick em up at 750-both are showing sitting down by a big pond so pull on down closer to bout 300 and I be dang I hear em- BAYED SOLID- so we head on down to em - its hotter than crap by this time (10:45) and I aint got a shirt on and its a briar maze thicket in there to the dogs- So I say ok boys got to grow some nutts right here lets go- head to em and sent bulldogs and I fall in behind em and I hear em hit him and hear one them ouch that hurt hollars and then hear water splashing and bust out to edge of pond and this same big boar that killed Rose got two bulldogs on his ears doing some slinging and cutting I head to em to help em out and he shakes my George bulldog and before he gets to me his eyes roll in back of his head-he dead- and my Snake dog cut down just laid down watching us and Buck my other bulldog still got the hog caught and the hog is swimming with him so I head on to him-Aunt Jemima is out there on top of a stump baying still- and bout that time he shakes Buck and  he looks like he taking a blood bath-the dang hog with teeth hanging out everywhere just whooped my bulldogs in the matter of a few seconds and I couldn't get my hand on the hog- he swims off and buck swims back to me looking like he could fall out any second-so I call Aunt Jemima off and said boys we just got our ass whooped- had to carry George, Buck, and Snake out to truck- so we get our crap together and there aint much talking going on cause its been ruff the last few hours- I know at this point Sugar is still out so go to tracking her and track her back in to this same pond we just got out of and she loses communication 49 yards out in pond- she must have heard my plott dogs baying and swam to them- she never showed up - called and talked to landowner bout that pond and yep sure enuff he said they a couple good gators in there so pretty much Rose and George got killed by this hog and gator got Sugar - hell of a day- I been doing this hog doggin stuff for 15 years now and by a good piece this is probably the ruffest morning I ever had as far as bad ass hog and losing dogs cause we catch our fair amount of big hogs and never had one whoop me like this just did- hey big boy Im coming back and you will go on my wall!!!!!
Had to do some stitching and sewing on my snake dog and buck but they'll live to hunt again and hope they will be on this same hog again real soon!! so lost Rose,George and Sugar and my phone was in my pocket in pond- yep! one them shoulda stayed in bed with mama days lol
RIP George and Rose and Sugar- thank ya for your hard work !!!

Three days after this last hunt where when I got home I had to burry two of my good dogs George and Rose- I get to my shop after work to find my Ol Red dog just took his last breath-8-7-18- this is pretty ruff cause I have had this dog for 12 years- so I go to my now medium size hog dog cemetery and put him with the rest- RIP OL MAN- Ol RED was the damndest dog Id prob ever owned - had a nose that couldn't smell a two day trail but he could hold his on- he was a 4 legged tracking machine - ol boar hog could consider hisself mighty lucky to get past Ol Red- many did but many did not- But as long as Ive hunted and aint near as long as some of yall but there aint many that had his heart and that's why he lived to be a 13 year old hog dog- three Saturdays ago I took him cause he was pulling at chain to go so I put him in the truck to go and I put him on a big hog track and he goes down several hundred yards and blows his old horn- bays this big hog in the bed- took him good while to get down there cause he pretty slow now lol-basically a slow walk Grin- long story short hog runs on him and I cut him off at a road and dump my plotts on the track and say come on ol man your done-I always wanted him to stay here but Good Lord didn't plan it like that-we only here for a short season-I wanted him to go out doing what he loved but his old body wouldn't let him- I will miss you old man- thank you for working so hard for me- this dog has bayed enuff hogs that all my buddies trucks couldn't pull em together- I normally don't brag on my dogs cause anything that eats number 2 and licks his on mama will make you a liar but hes gone now and deserves a pat on his old head- Im glad I got the chance to own a dog like this and am glad I got two red young dogs on the yard off him that act just like his stubborn old ass- RIP OL RED

-pictures to come- and oh by the way any of yall down round southeast ga got a spare good bulldog youll part with Ill buy it-Im in need of one lmao Grin Grin

Man that's some awful stuff right there. I'm so sorry about your dogs. Literally made me almost cry, might be me being a chick but you know......  Hope things get better for you, again I'm sorry for your losses. I lost a gyp a few years ago that hunted great with my other gyp- I think they competed on who was better out in the woods, lol. Now the gyp that's left just doesn't seem to have what she used to, I don't know if that makes sense but it seems to be what's happening. Hope you get your pack back to going strong and many more successful good memories to come!!

Gosh dang it man I’m sure sorry to hear all that! It’s funny how you can go for years and years and hardly have any problems... then, bam, it hits you all at once. I hope you get your pack built back up soon. Something similar happened to me a few years back to the point I almost threw in the towel.

Thanks fellas
yea been several years since I had a dog killed- just been my time I reckon
I know what you talking bout that gyp being like that- I had a dog one time that would not do a thing unless Red was in the box-if Red was there he was good help - they was just partners

Cracker - you know they will be used and I thank you- Ol Hellen will just click she will very important to me and my yard in the short future- I really want one them male dogs out that cross

Cajun-you may not have figured out who I am but them plott dogs Im talking bout are your stock I got them from you sometime ago. I've enjoyed hunting them- they are going to be a huge part of my yard to come.

Judge- I hear you got some mountain cur dogs, is that true?
I am very certain that is what Ol Red was. Id really like to hear about em if you don't mind-
I like my plott dogs and I like my cur dogs and have owned several hound cur crosses that was nice but never had a mountain cur plott dog cross- this is my interest- my first ever hog dog was two male dogs they were 1/2 plott 1/2 cur and Ive favored that since.
keep in mind Im a wanna be hog hunter Im just trying the best I can
 Huh? Grin

That was some good reading...but sorry to hear that about your losses...if ole Red was a mt cur then that explains his greatness...when you get the right ones they are hard to beat...
