we don't have wild hogs here , i do mostly cowwork . zeke was out of the last cowboy x sue cross that clue made and was my best dog . you could drive yearlings with him 1 day and catch a ton bull the next . anyway a guy said there were 3 hogs loose around some gravel pits that nobody would claim . said 1 was a monster and the other 2 were about 250 . i figgerd theyd wind up being about half that . i lined up some amish boys to help and we turned loose last fri , my 11 year old woke up that morning with some kinda fever and couldn;t go to school , it musta been hog fever or swine flu or something like that but he was all better that evening . lol

zeke and minnie got bayed about a quarter off the road and we eased in to"em the little hogs weighed maybe a hunderd and the other was a beast !i buthered one last year that weighed 805 and i'd guess this one at 850 easy . it was 2 hamps and a white  hog , i roped the little hamp and tied him down , them got a rope on hogzilla and started for th road he was so fat that after abou 20 yards it just slipped right over his head . then he got in some thick crap and we had to get down and crawl in trying to get 'em roped .

igeuss zeke got impatient , when he cuaght that hog he got rooted and smashed into the ground . this hog had 4-5 inch cutters ! when zeke got up i caught him and checked him out , he  was cut but not to bad . about that time they hollerd that they had him caught n tied to a tree . i said we better turn him loose and get to the vet . we couldn't have got him out without a pair of mules anyway. not where he was at without a chainsaw .

zeke died sunday evening . we got whooped pretty bad but that hogs days are numberd !

Hate to hear that JDT, sure hope you get some strings on his feet, although it sounds like you might need some logging chains for hobbles...

Did you ever determine what killed him, bad internal injury?

I love my Clue pup.  She’s a natural.  She’s not a year yet and works cattle like a grown dog.  Really listens and has a pretty good handle too.

yessir , he's a real hand . and he'll be the the first to tell you he didndt make them dogs what they are , he just keptem good . from the folks he got'em from .

in my opinion he's done that and more .  i took 2 young dogs out to help a guy gather his forest service cattlle in the mountains of se oklahoma . i was sent on a hunt up a holler between 2 mountains to look for cattle . went a goood ways dogs hit a track and left , these dogs had never seen a hog .i said to the other 2 we'll bay cattle in a minute . sure enuff after we peed and got a dip of snuff we could bareley hear the bay . i was kinda proud of my young dogs as they had not been used a whole lot .

started towards them and seen a few hogs slipping out , got to the bay and they had a younger sow bayed in open woods . wahtced for a little while and thought i might just rope her and mark her for him . she broke twice and then the last time i called'em off and went back to cowhunting .

last year on that same deal with the same young dogs i drove cattle back 6-7 miles and put them cattle thru a 8 foot wire gap by my self . i aint that good of a hand , thats just raising them to be big enough to work and then relying on genetics .

well i heard the dam deer hhunters killed the rest of them hogs and left them lay .what a waste of meat , iwish i could go back in time and go get a pair of mules and a chainsaw and flashlites and got that joker out that night . he was bigger than the hogzilla that was shot in ga . would have made between 4 n 500 lbs of sausage after being barred and healed up . that would have fed alot of people .

live and learn i geuss . i've lost more dogs to hogs than most of ya'll and i don't hog hunt that much lol
