Came home for first time in a long time this weekend. Grandpa called and said there was hogs tearing up one of our lease pastures a couple weeks ago. Called up 2 buddies and told em to bring a dog a piece. I brought the old man Loco, Rhett brought his rocky pup, and Dauntae brought his young dog Kory and a bulldog. We kicked em out about 2:45 and kinda just roamed around the road that snakes through the woods. About 15 minutes or so go by and Loco and Rocky cut out of there like they mean it. Struck and bayed for a second. Hog thought she might want to run but they changed her mind within 100 yards. We just real slow worked to them. Shot 2 bedded pigs on the way to them. Get around there and they were bayed right in the road on a real big sow. Dauntae cut the bulldog from about 10 yards and I got to leg a good hog for the first time in a while. Stuck her and called it a hunt. Can’t ask for much more in the middle of deer season. Gotta give the old man Loco his credit, last 2 hunts I’ve used him he has done the deal as good as you can ask a dog that as old and worn out and ate up with arthritis like he is. Loco and the Big sow. She was somewhere in the 220-250 range I believe

Nobody in my family besides my uncle has an understanding or appreciation for what a working dog is. Grandpa hates hog dogs and cow dogs really due to a lack of understanding, but he hates rough pastures a little more so he lets me hunt.
