Hard Core Hog Dogs video

Can't remember whether it was the first one or second one, but there was a scene where a leopard dog ran a good boar down in the wide open, went to the front and grabbed ear to pull 'em around and stop 'em. Was wondering if any of you computer wizards could find that scene and post a link to it here.

Reckon no one here appreciates how a good stock bred cur dog stops a running hog.   Doesn't surprise me though.

What about finding a lone boar in the middle of a 500 acre wooded area filled with 10 ft. palmettoes and then running him a while to get in a position to stop him...I have seen many stock dogs that were weak in finding and trailing...but I have seen a few really good ones that could do it all and the amazing part was to keep one stopped...the stopping part better than most i have seen...

That would be a fine dog indeed    Had somebody ask me how I like a dog to stop a running hog. I had seen that scene from that video years ago and it always stuck in my mind.  You can tell somebody this, but very rarely do you get to see it first hand in the woods or pasture. For me, a cur dog must go to the front and square up to stop. I will not tolerate a dog that nuts or hamstrings a hog.  Personally, to me, they are cowards. Lots of different ways to catch hogs though

IN MY OPINION, there are several ways to stop a hog. Track speed stops a lot of them. Biting one is another. Where they grab a hog is up to the dog. I personally like dogs to bite in the rear and bay at the head. The hog only has teeth on one end. If a dog is reaching up and pinching a hog they will only push them harder. If he reaches up and grabs a ham or their pride and joy and hangs on until the hog stops to face up then it works.

Warrant just want to know y would u want the best dog u have to put there self in the line of fire by going to the front to get ahold when they can grab one in the nutts and back up to we’re they have a lot less of a chance to get cut or killed just don’t really make
Sense but it is just different opinions maybe I’m miss understood what ur getting at

I read it wrong but still y would u want one to run another 300 yards trying to get to the front get get run over or cut when they could just grab one in the ass and back up still same mind set to me not starting a fight now on cow dogs I want the get to the front dogs but that’s a totally different animal ur dealing with there

We are from South/Central Florida, all around and below "The Lake". In this part of the country, cur dogs are stock bred(cattle and hogs). They are bred to be "head" dogs plain and simple. They are expected to go to the front to stop both cattle or hogs. A dog that has the heart to stop a running 900+lb. bovine from the nose or ears, is expected to work the same on a 300lb hog.   It is no big secret that most every line of curs from this area has had some "bulldog" bred into them, going way back. There was a reason for this These dogs here work different than most curs from other parts of the country, including other parts of Florida. We take pride in breeding "head" dogs and most of us won't tolerate anything less. Like posted above though, there are lots of different styles when it comes to hog dogs. Feed what suits you. Hunt them up boys
