Saturday morning me and Brandon loaded up and headed to Cooks point. Got some prairie country out that way next to some receiving pens. About 8:45 or so I cast Sketch, Loco, and Crawshaw just blindly off a hill, they leave out a little ways up the hill, turn around and smoke it down the hill, drop off into one of the springs and sketch opens up. They all went to baying for a second but by the time we got in the ranger and made it down there they had a pretty decent little boar hog strung out in the creek. I don’t swim, dogs didn’t want to handle like they’re supposed to so I shot him in the hips and let em have their fun. https://vimeo.com/309725210
We spend next 2 hours hunting the spring creeks to no Avail, finally decide to go hit the only bigger set of woods on the place and boy it is some rank steep terrain in there. Takes her some doing but sketch stands another boar hog up and bays. Loco comes blowin in there wound up and goes to catch, hog gets pointed down hill and just runs till he knocks em off and it was off to the races. They ran for a good while and lost him, and I guess that was the last race the old man wanted cause we loaded up and headed home and he was no longer with us when we got back to my dog pens. Body just gave out on him I reckon.
Evening time comes and some buddies from rockdale call say they got a spot. We roll that way and about 5 we cast sketch and their 2 dogs and they all got them some gone. Took some doing but they got a big bred sow up and moving and managed to get her bayed. Walked in there and watched a real nice bay for a while before I shot her. Luke’s red dog rolled over and got another one fired up and boy they covered some country. Lost em down in a big swamp and we called it a evening

Thanks guys. It’s just one of them things, he was owned by a friend of mine Justin, I’ve just kept and used him for the last year. His health has been less than good for the last 18 months. Between arthritis real bad and some sort of blood disorder/disease. All roads lead here, I’m just glad he got to go out on a hunt. Wouldn’t have done him no justice to die on the chain. Sucker wasn’t the best dog but he made up for it with heart!

Ol' Luke is a good guy. Glad y'all got together. Sorry hear about your dog but I agree, he went out on his own terms.

Man he showed me a picture of a pup he had said he got it from a man named Thomas. I told him I was wondering if it was you who I was thinking of. Luke and Christian are both pretty good kids and that red dog and Christians jizz B dogs are nice honest dogs. They want to bay hogs and I love that. Rare I find someone around my age that my dogs do well and mesh good with theirs. I believe me and them will be doing some more hunting together in the near future.

Yes they are both nice guys. That red dog of Luke's is out of my stuff. He also has 2 young dogs and that pup from us. Luke is gonna hunt them. If they have any want to at all he'll make a dog of them. I've never hunted with Christians dog.

I will swim if my dogs are in a real bind. But I don’t ask nor want my dogs to catch hogs like they caught that one. My attitude has become this, if my dogs are on a hog, and doing something I would be pissed off about if it were a cow in the same situation, they are in the wrong, and I got enough videos and pictures and hogs killed that are proof, they do know how to do it the right way like I ask. So I’m not going swimming to bail my dogs out simply because they are choosing not to handle like they know how.

Oh hell if they get in a bind that riffle is faster fix then swimming. I was think maybe you couldn’t swim which had me puzzled because you can’t do much hog hunting with out crossing water. But see what your saying
