I’ve fed Sportsmix 24/20 for over 15 years... tried most of the others and always came back to Sportsmix.

I switched to Showtime 24/20 this past summer and love it. Dogs did great in the heat, they look good, perform good... and I feed a lot less than I was feeding with the Sportsmix.

I snapped a pic of the ingredients... it’s made by Mid South Feed in Georgia. Everyone in my area has switched to it with good results.

Besides a homemade diet this is by far the best feed on the market for its price range, I was feeding the 24/20 until the dealer who is my neighbor and hardcore beagle man sold his grocery store and now the new owner quit carrying it, I'm now feeding the blue bag which Is27/20 which I pick up from a dealer who owns a hardware store and is big into coyote field trials, this time of year I have a lot of meat scraps I pick up from a local custom processor and only give the dogs around one cup of kibble along with the meat for the fiber and what vitamins and minerals they don't get from the meat...

It's gotten to be a little pricey, by the time I figure in my driving time and fuel to get it I'm paying  under 30$ a bag, if I by it by the pallet they let me have it at their cost....

I used to feed Showtime 24/20 and loved it. My dogs did very good on it but I had to drive  hour to get it and the price was 23.25 a bag for a pallet. I switched to the red bag 24/20 Value pac. for 19.00 a bag for a pallet . I fed for a year but could not hold weight on my dogs and very loose stool. Found a foxhunter who sold Pride 24/20 for 22.00 a bag, pallet price. My dogs really picked up and I really think it is the equivalent to Showtime and he is only 20 minutes from the house.

I know showtime and sports mix are popular. I have always been iffy on quality control of sportsmix. I i didn't try it myself. I like a grain free feed base and grab meet and fixings based on the time of year. deer season back Minnesota venison and had unlimited access to geese at times of the year turkey after the holidays ect. $1.00 a pound for corn free is though to beat. https://www.samsclub.com/sams/mm-exceed-puppy-20-lb/prod19180155.ip?&source=ifpla&CAWELAID=730010300000560907&pid=_CSE_Google_PLA_1013571988&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=239354481779&wl4=pla-308366635805&wl5=9028097&wl6=&wl7=&wl9=pla&wl10=1247713&wl11=online&wl12={productid}&wl13=&wl15=51568946084&wl17=1o4&veh=sem&kclid=6b9e3058-d087-4d9a-9e91-12ae18192d96&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_tDK2vGV4AIViZOzCh2_BgXUEAQYBCABEgKtTfD_BwE

I like to keep carbs low then carb load the day before a hunt. carbs are great for soaking up water to hydrate before a winter hunt in jan,feb and march.

I feed Victor 24/20 Red Bag from December - March. It costs about .85 cents per lb. As soon as it warms up, I switch over to the 22/10 Yellow Bag. It costs about .70 per lb. been feeding it for about 8 years. Batches are consistent. No upset stomachs or loose stools. The Red Bag is “hot” (450 Kcals roughly) it’s easy to over feed one with it. I notice the dogs take longer to empty and get hot a little quicker on the red bag.
-
My dogs hunt once a week for about 4 hours. We are weekend warriors. My dogs stay in pretty good shape on it and hold up to the little bit of hunting I get to do. It’s a little pricey but I’m only feeding 4 dogs.
-
I hunt with friends who feed Sportsmix. Their dogs perform well on it and have a similar workload to mine. They do occasionally complain about bad batches and loose stools on it. I would try it out if I was feeding more dogs.

Why feed Showtime--from someone who feeds it and sells it.

What I have started saying about Showtime is that it does all the little things right--unlike any other dog food. What do I mean by this? Well here are the reasons (in no particular order):

1. Every dog will eat it, even picky dogs (well probably not EVERY dog, but our feed store hasn't had a single customer complain of their dog not eating it)
2. You can feed less, even half as much as other popular dog foods (this stuff keeps a dog very well)
3. Hard stool, easy for cleaning kennels (The first time I switched, I did so without mixing previous dog food--no diarrhea. Also, when you cut your dogs loose, they poop once and aren't stopping every 30 yards to try and poop some more)
4. Price, we are in Texas and get Showtime shipped from Georgia, and it's still a lot cheaper than any other popular dog foods.
5. Results, this goes to performance whether hot or cold, and everything else listed here (This dog food is made buy field trial dogmen with results in mind. Nobody pushes dogs harder than those men, and that's all most of them feed.)

Other info/reasons: Showtime was designed by the same nutritionist that designed Black Gold. I never fed Black Gold, but ones who did seemed to love it--it tends to bring up a sense of nostalgia. The bag is easy to open--yes there is some value in this--just pull the string. I always hated having to tear into other dog food bags. A big reason to buy Showtime is because they support dogmen like us and our way of hunting. As most of y'all probably know, Showtime sponsors Uncle Earl's and the East Texas Hog Baying Championships. They also sponsor many individual dogmen and many of the field trials.

Results, results, results: For example, you would not believe how many customers, men and women who don't know anything about a dog, who we have had switch to Showtime that would come back to the store after only feeding one bag and see a difference in their yard monkey--weight, hair, energy, etc. On the other end of the spectrum, there are people like Mike who are dogmen and have been feeding the same dog food for years that try Showtime, see the results, and stick with Showtime. I find both of these examples impressive.

Another great example: Like I said, Showtime sponsors a lot of field trials. At one Showtime took 10 bags of dog food, and another dog food company took 15 bags. The trial placed the first 20, and allowed them to pick a bag of dog food for free. First through tenth place all picked the Showtime--thus, no more Showtime. Here's the crazy part--three of the next 10 placed wouldn't even take a bag of the other dog food! I can't imagine with as many dogs as most field trial people have not taking a free bag of dog food.

Lastly: If you are in Texas, I know you may not be able to get your hands on Showtime, and, like many, you are fine with what you are feeding. However, when you put together feeding less, less expensive, and results, you can't beat Showtime. So, how to get it? Give me a call, and you and your buddies tell your feed store you want it. My name is Wyatt Hinson and my number is (903)-434-2542. Call me with any questions, and tell your feed store to call me. We can fix them up!

I feed Victor and have been really happy with it over the past several years.I haven't had any inconsistent bags at all.Hard stool slick coats easy to keep weight and plenty of stamina. It's more expensive but I believe it's worth it.Several of my buddies also feed it and have zero complaints over the years.

I fed Victor for a couple of years also when they first came out and the dogs did well on it, no better than Sportsmix. But, they priced themselves out of the market in our area... raising the price 1 or 2 dollars a bag every month. With that being said, I will only feed and raise pups on the Victor puppy food.

We’ve just got our local feedstore to get an order of Showtime feed. He only ordered the blue bag and said if it sells well he’ll order more and try to get some of the black bag too. He just started carrying Valupak and I told him that more hunters/dog men now days are preferring the Showtime feed.

The blue bag is just as good, but I would switch to the black bag in the summer months. The higher protein in the blue bag makes the dogs run hotter from what I’ve seen.
