Made a round this morning at the Triple Deuce outside Giddings. Rhett, my cousin Colby, Uncle Cullen and the guys who have it leased for deer hunting were down and they like to just ride along and spectate. Dump the box on the edge of a hay field they had tore up pretty good. Had Sketch, Rocky, Boo, and 3 of the 4 sketch pups. They take out and not too long Sketch pops off at like 650. Rocky and boo and my gyp pup were just a tick behind, they get in there and put up bayed. We ease in there, a hog tries to break out of there and sketch takes him maybe 100 yards and brings him back. Sketch is bayed on a single hog now about 10 yards away and the other 3(my Radar and Cullen’s pup Ears haven’t turned on yet so they are there but just kind of watching) are circling the wagons keeping the group bunched tight. I told Cullen to go to Sketch and shoot that hog and Rhett and me will stay on the group and Rhett will shoot once he hears Cullen. Cullen shoots and Rhett gets 3 off on the group. Cullen took the only shot he had at the boar hog sketch had a little low in the back hips with his .45 and he broke. Sketch took him 400 and bayed him back. Rhett managed to Kill 4 hogs out of the group before they broke and Cullen shot another shoat that run by him. Cullen and Colby headed to sketch bayed on that boar hog again and me and Rhett went to Rocky, Boo and My gyp pup who rolled over about 150 yards and at a shoat squealing. We kill it, hear Cullen shoot, go catch up with him and the dust settled and we had 7 down in about 45 minutes. Was at the camp house eating breakfast tacos by 9:00. Got to love it when a plan comes together and them leopard dogs was doing it like they’re supposed to.
This is the 14th sure enough group of hogs we have bayed with my string this year. That’s the proof within the pudding.
