Haven’t posted here in a long time! Hate that, but figured I’d come back and show some love to the ol ETHDs family.

Got out to a clients property around 8 the other night. Dropped on the west side of the place, but didn’t find any new damage after covering the majority of it. So we drove around to the front of the east side and dropped again. Some older sign there, but nothing major. We had one last place to drop on this spot further down on the east side, and sure enough, the dogs start acting piggy. We had Fred, Ellie May, and Emma (CD). Fred hollered out about 160 yards in the woods when he hit a hot track, then started coming back in closer. Ellie May started heading to him. Fred started sounding off, and then set into a solid bay. Ellie May got there really quick since she was so close, and they lit up the woods together. It was the kind of bay that makes your hair stand on end! We drove the buggy a bit closer, and cut Emma to them still bayed solid. As Lee and I followed in behind Emma, the woods started to rumble and the ground shook. Saplings were cracking and  breaking. We knew we were headed into a battle, especially when there was no squeal. We didn’t hear anything but a deep rumble/grunt. Emma started going rounds with that boar hog! She wasn’t coming off, and that hog knew it and didn’t like it one bit. I ran in, handed Lee my knife, and grabbed a leg. My hands barely fit around the legs, so I grabbed the tail too. The boar had such a hard plate that it was tough to get the Bowie knife in him, so I grabbed the knife back, then handed the leg off to Lee to get a better stick on him and finish the deal. Then it was over. All dogs luckily unscathed, minus some minor scratches, and everyone home safe and sound. Couldn’t have asked for better dog work out of all of them tonight, and couldn’t have asked for a better night with good company either! Lee, the old man Fred, Fred’s daughter Ellie May, and Emma Lue made me proud tonight.

Great hunt! I read this the other day on Facebook on the Texas Boar Hunters page, I thought the names of the dogs sounded familiar. I knew it was someone from on here

I feel your pain! I was getting close to that. Life tends to get in the way of gettin in the woods sometimes.
