I went with a couple guys I dont get to hunt with often and got to see some sure enough dog work this past Tuesday on a lease north of my place. The hogs are scattered right now between all of the water and feeders still going. We started off with a little 80lb barr hog we turned back out then managed to find a good barr hog around 210lbs, he put up a good fight and whooped a couple of my dogs pretty good but we got him caught all the same. We ended the day with a bay 25yds behind some folks house, it was wild. We pulled in their driveway and knocked on their door and explained the situation (they were clueless but more than willing to let us catch the hog) we walked around the house to the woodline with my catchdog Cali and I mentioned that it didnt feel right. We only had 1 dog baying and she had been there a good 30 minutes before we got to her....she was baying but I could tell something wasnt quite right, the woodline was thick as could be, just a wall of brush. We were 15yds from the bay and couldnt see a thing so we said screw it and sent Cali, seconds later the woods exploded and we had hogs going every direction. That ol gyp had a wad of hogs bayed and settled and Cali ran into it head first. She got whooped off and ended up taking a 60lb shout 750yds before she caught it in a pasture full of cows. I was sweating bullets until we got around to her. Anyhow it was a great day in the woods.

Today I toted a different set of dogs, we got to the first spot and I dropped a young gyp I've been raising that I call gypsy that is coming 2yrs old and a puppy out of my willy dog that is a littermate to the two pups that Auestus got from me last year. They rolled out 350yds down a trail, turned in and sat down hammering not 10 minutes into the hunt, we got 95yds from them on the trail and had to make our way into the nastiest block of woods I've personally ever bayed in, green briars as big as your thumb and as thick as I've ever seen. I turned Cali loose from 10yds and had to crawl in to her. I finally got my hands on the hog just in time for my buddy to come bulldozing in with his jacked up ranger running over trees and all lol. He heard us from the road saying "big hog" and that we couldnt get to it and took matters into his own hands

Yes sir, it was just a strange deal, normally we can see or at least hear the hog but aside from her occasionally barking it was dead silent before we sent my bulldog.

And yes it is awesome to see a young dog step it up, one of my favorite things about messin with these dogs no doubt
