Reading the Scene...

The boar hog is extremely careful not to make the wrong move...he knows if he makes a run for it he will get caught...he sees the only way out is to wait the dogs out and hopes they will go away by doing so...that is how he sees it and the dogs are reading the same thing...they see the hogs caution as weakness...

The big cur dog in the water is telling the hog...if you run we will catch you and the boar hog knows it and he also knows that the big cur dog the the water is the biggest threat...
