Reuben, I’m not sure if you’re on Facebook but Justin’s buddy Josh posted the video that these screen shots are from... really nice dog work. Just enough pressure to keep him there but not too much to make him break. I’m accustomed to suicidal rough dogs that catch any and everything. It’s very rare to see dogs bay pigs around me. But I think that’s simply because people in my area don’t have skilled bay dogs. I’ve seen several dogs that wouldn’t put teeth on a pig that were very good at striking and running a track all day and night but they would never stop the pig and sit him down.
I like how Justin’s dogs will make it bay and then they’ll back up and will catch it, or come off of it depending on what they’re told to do. Makes me realize how much work I need to do with mine lol. None of my dogs are listening to a word I say once they’re focused on a pig. It sure would be nice to be able to call them off sometimes

Alot of time has gone into my mutts to get em that way buddy, you will get to the same point just stay the course! .........P.S. the Alpha when used correctly is the single best tool every made in my eyes regarding hog hunting with dogs. 2 of the dogs in that video had never been called off of a hog BUT due to having 2 experienced dogs there that know what to do when spoken to plus having the ability to tone the two young dogs made it easy enough for josh to call them all off. He never once had to shock either of them, talking to them plus the added tone getting their attention along with them seeing the older dogs call off when told was all that they needed to see/hear in order to understand what was being asked of them. I enjoy that aspect of this sport as much as any other, its hard to beat having a good handle on your dogs, just makes life much more enjoyable in the woods.
