If wait until I knew they had a strong understanding of exactly what the tone button means and what comes after it if they choose not to listen. I teach mine what it means after they've been on enough hogs to know their job in the woods but when they are still young and trashy by turning them loose after I've seen deer in the road ahead of me.....if they take the track off the road I tone and holler "get out" and "here" a few times, if they take the track much more than 30yds off the road I light their asses up. It rarely takes more than twice for them to learn what the tone sound means.

It sounds easy and really it can be but you can screw one up too if you are not consistent with them and confuse them.
