I've been wanting a good toothy blonde/orange hog for quite a few years to shoulder mount and today I found just that in the form of an earless 180lb Barr hog. I've caught a pile bigger but none colored like this one with solid teeth. I wish I would have taken pics of him once I got him sprayed off but o well. We rode into a spot on the lease we rarely hunt in some young open pines and no sooner than we shut the 4 wheelers off we saw this hog and a black twin to him trying to slide out, I believe we got lucky and bumped em off their bed. 3 curr dogs and 500yds later we had him tied. Going to make a nice mount and great pan sausage and chops!

I mounted one of Barr’s this year as well. He wasn’t huge either, but most taxidermists will tell you that the better detailed mounts will be on the 250 and under hogs.

That's exactly what mine told me. He said if I brought him a 350+ he would pretty much have to make a form for it.

Glad for you man.  He won’t be forgotten when he’s smiling from the wall at you. Lol.

That’s awesome man, I’ve only caught one blonde and he wasn’t but around 60lbs. Real cool color

Very nice. I've only brought 3 out to get mounted. 1st one got ruined so it turned into a euro mount. 2nd one I let my buddy take to a beginner taxidermist friend and he sat it out on the back porch to cool and dogs drug it off. That was one you don't  catch very often. His teeth rolled way back and about 275 pounds. 3rd one I chased for years and he cut down several dogs. Finally caught him slipping and bayed him in his bed alone, he was usually with a group of sows when we saw and bayed him. The taxidermist ruined him, an absolute pathetic job. It didn't even resemble the same hog. He's passed on now so I won't mention names. He was a good taxidermist, I don't know what happened with mine but I was no to happy.

I’m just like ya
I’ve got 4 hogs mounted but have always wanted a good red hog with good teeth- you got him and will look good on the wall
Me a buddy of mine caught a huge red and black spotted hog with real nice teeth bout 15 years ago and killed a nice dog - we put him in the pen to come back to kill and mount but it was August and hotter than crap and when we got around back to him he was stiff and blow flies on him so tht didn’t happen

Ain’t caught one since that fit that description

Congrats

I barred this hog in 2012 for that purpose, hoping I would run into again but hasn’t happened yet maybe he is still alive.
