Two nice parents. Hopefully the pups will measure up. I was only around Tim’s gyp the one time, but I would feed her.

First time I’ve seen sketch in a couple months. 9 this summer but of course been crippled and she has surely passed the torch. Although she did give 2 valiant efforts on races once we got in the hogs. This was a tough hunt. Had dogs walking a bay in the county road ditch and a neighbor did a drive by on them basically. I had to go get king out of a deer blind 2 places over after this.

Full brother sister/ parents on left
Misty and Spoon
Littermate gyp(my doodle bug) and male (Goose belonging to Maverick) on right.

2nd of as many this evening. Man asked me to ride through his place make sure they didn’t miss any cattle when they cleaned the place off. I took spoon king Misty and a spoon x Misty yearling Doodle bug. Misty stole the show for the first Time in front of spoon and king and when I needed spoon to retake the track he pulled off that Misty was running. He took it and we caught this hog at the end of a 3.5 mile race.
It was an impressive showing for them 2 by my standards.

Lulu and Spoon. Lulu is a yearling out of sketch x ray. Lulu is on her way to being a one out dog. Her and 2 year old half sister misty went the distance for a pretty good boar hog today right before lunch. Them and my 3 males kinda screwed around this morning with a good rally and broke it up and run us out of country and never stopped anything back. So, out of spite, on the way home I went to cast them at our deer camp. Not great hog country but if a dog will go far enough. There’s a decent boar somewhere within a mile or so. The boys quit me but the girls just stuck their nose in the dirt and walked half a mile across 2 places to him. called landowner and let em know I was gonna go in there. Too maybe 45 minutes from them showing bayed to me getting out of the truck to go to them. Sent spoon for fresh lungs. They’re like 150 off the end of a lease road. Walk in and they have him backed up in about a 4 ft  creek bank digging a big ol hole. Was going to video and he opened his mouth and looked up at me and decided to kill him instead. Maybe 3.25-3.5” on short side, 4.25ish on long side. Just shy of 200lbs.

Did you shoot him or choke him to death with your shoe, lol? I’m guessing those shoes aren’t briar proof.

That’s a good hog. It sounds like the dogs are maturing. I hope they keep improving.

Hahaha I actually have a brand new spankin pair of hoggin sneakers. These don’t have the extra toe air flow built in yet.

Dogs are doing well hunting wise lately for sure. Still having young dog mix ups/mistakes but nothing but time and tracks will fix that.

Still hunting some. Just hard to post with way Tapatalk and forum don’t function on my phone properly.

Been slow yet this year. Only real hunt we’ve made it took till 3 pm to find the hogs and we had a bunch of gassed out of shape dogs once we did. Caught 2 and couldn’t get back in them.

Then I went the following day solo with a few of mine. Killed 3 good boars and a sow, and then jumped in a coyote race and caught him in a culvert after an hour. That was a fun little afternoon.

Kicked spoon and 4 littermates down the other day at the ranch mid day and they made 1 good cast. Come up empty and had another boar bayed on the 2nd cast.

Went last week with Tim and some yearlings and caught a little boar and bayed a big ole sow. Dogs started great and then did horrible, then ended okay so we didn’t get no pics that day.

Then I casted a few of mine at my house solo again this afternoon and killed a little boar. Then had a coyote race that ended with a dog having this in their eye. Seems like it’s gonna be okay in long run. Give him a round of oxy and see what a few days shows. Eye isn’t all tore up, just scratched pretty good. It was on the out side of his eye in his socket with only about a 1/4” sticking out past his eyelid. I imagine in the reduce there’s a chance that could have been fatal, or atleast a lot more damaging than it seems to be so far.

Yes sir. We are dry, bad dry. Hogs are thin. We bayed on a big group right after new year behind Tim’s cattle co and that’s the only big set of hogs we’ve run in to this year so far.

That sucks. It’s hard to make hog dogs without hogs. Judge Peel  has had the same issue.
