I see some stuff posted from years back. Wondering if anyone would like to share some success (or horror stories) of bull stag crosses.

Absolutely none. Running 1/2 crosses and 3/4 bulldog 1/4 stag crosses. They work fine in the brush too.
Tried a straight stag and did not work on the bigger hogs.
Not looking to start a debate, but I will never go back to a straight bulldog.
Less fights and WAY more speed which has helped me catch more with the darn running pigs around here.
Not knocking anything or saying I have the best, but that’s my answer to the question. I still have a straight bulldog use him from time to time.

Maverick what kind of bulldog are you using to cross to the stag? Are they 1/2 or 3/4 bulldog or what’s the percentages?

To my knowledge it’s American bulldog but I think the boys from up north cross them with pit basically the dogs we got come from up north my buddy Charlie friends bring them down right now we have a pair that are brother and sister if I’m correct on the math there 3/4 stag 1/4 American bulldog.. me and Charlie bought a few pups from Alabama if I’m correct there not a year yet but they are half bulldog half stag they have the stag height already plan to start them soon like Charlie has told me these dogs are slow maturing.. then from the one we are using I need the gyp to my American bulldog from Scott Pugh there a few months old close to a year if I’m correct that I got catching a small shoat already if I knew how to post pics I would show y’all them.

The gyp I bred to my Scott Pugh bulldog can sure run one down in a open field really like seeing her run down one.. she had 2 pups a male and female that I start on a small pig so far I have hopes to see them running pigs down in the future I’m just not forcing them yet on a bigger pig...

T-dog be honest I’m at 50/50 here idk know she was in heat but my little girl said her and my brothers cat were stuck but truly and honest I didn’t see them that’s cause I was in the back she was running lose at the time but after I saw that she was in heat I put her with my American bulldog.. gyp had 6 pups all brindle 2 only made it but my older hunting buddy thinks my American bulldog is the daddy he has the same brindle patches on his head and body. Plus the cat is Merle so in reality idk who the daddy is but I’ll tell you what let him catch the small pig here and he locked on the ear had trouble getting him off lol

Well he’s a nice dog no matter which one he’s out of. And you’re right, as long as he’s catching it don’t matter right now. It might later if you decide to breed him depending on what you are trying to get out of him but they make DNA kits lol. If you have to know you can find out later. I’m betting on the American as well. The pup had more bone and body then the cat and the stag.
