Had a heck of a day started the morning off with a quit government Barr hog 2hrs hunt my crank dog, Bill (one of his sons) and my buddies yella male bayed up

Got a call around lunch from another buddy to go make a round that evening he has some pups he wanted to get in on their first bay and wanted me to bring my old crank dog and dogo (Odin) had another buddy meet us there with his son and nephew, he brought a couple old dogs and a young cd too
barred two young boar hogs and then caught another salty Barr hog behind crank and my buddies old dog (willie) those two stayed together pretty much all night great dog work and a great time with good friends!

Made 3 cast they lined the first one out only 300 yds from the buggy, cur dogs caught him and my crank dog rolled over and got out about 900 for an hr or so trying to line another one out he finally came back
Next cast turned loose they took a track and set down 943 from us and bayed got to send the cds that time
About the time we got done getting dogs buddies cellphone camera sent him a pic of two good hogs at his feeder on another property so we drove around and cut loose there dogs went out 200 yards struck one and ran him a good while crank and willie finally got him bayed about 2.5 miles as a crow flies drove up 100 yards and headed in sent the cds caught while the other old dog and one of the young pups ran the other hog few a couple more hrs and we cut them off on a county rd since it was 11 pm and we all had to work today lol

If y’all have read my post about “hunting old dogs” my crank dog put 6 miles on his feet Saturday morning and 23 miles on them Saturday night and his ankle joints didn’t swell and he’s not limping today!

Appreciate it bud! Yeah I’m definitely hoping that it keeps working as good as it has so far and we get to get a few more litters started behind him in the next couple years

Definitely a believer in these joint supplements now! He ain’t much but sure makes it nice starting pups behind something rather than starting from scratch with just pups

Great dogs are the ones that make the person that feeds them happy. Sounds like a nice dog from here.

Sounds like a real good hunt! Glad to hear your older dog is doing better as well. I ended up getting a finished strike dog from one of my buddies a little while back, she’s about 6-7 years old and couldn’t keep up with his younger dogs, and gets pretty run down after a real hard hunt. She’s spent most of her life getting ran pretty hard several times a week so maybe it’s just wear and tear on her. I needed some help after my lead dog got killed, so he called me and asked if I wanted her to help my young dogs get going good because he hated to leave her sitting at the house. So far she’s been a great fit and has been producing, I’ll definitely look in to the joint stuff if she starts having a hard time with multiple day hunts. Once spring comes around we usually hunt all day Saturday and Sunday back to back, dogs doing about 15-20 miles both days.

Yessir that’s how it’s always been for my old dog hunting several times a week 15 miles minimum usually some times them long days 40+ a day after years of that his ankle finally started messing with him, those joint supplements help a ton tho! He’s been on them since the 15th of January and it’s already night and day I definitely recommend them
