Went over by Tanners house today "the young man that has been hunting with us some" we got struck real quick and dogs split and ran out of the country, we decided to regroup as they were running round and round in thickets. Got them caught up and went and cast them in another spot, got struck right away they split and went to catching shoats but while we were standing there in the brush Tanner saw some hogs slipping out by us, Grip the catchdog was winding them so I sent him to see if he could catch one, there was a couple of big sows and a shoat, he ran them about 600 yds and did not catch one but started back to me I got him caught so we could go to some of the other dogs that were showing bayed but then we heard a pig squealing, they had just caught another shoat, and in a minute they rolled out on another track. We listened and watched for a while and could see a shoat once in a while, they mashed some more shoats and I told the boys we had better go check on Ol'Brindle "Adam's dog" he had split right at the strike and had gotten out of tracking range, we drove around and found him bayed, I had caught Flo off the shoats and sent her to Brindle, they stayed bayed and we caught a small boar 144 lbs.
Went back to the other dogs and got them gathered up out of the shoats, Wash was showing bayed about 500 yds over but was eating on a shoat he had caught. We took them around and sent them where the sows Grip had ran went to it had been about 2.5 hrs since they left. They got struck and were soon jumped ran a fast race in a brushy creek bottom and came back towards us, we saw the big sow go by with the dogs just about 50 yds behind and in another 200 yds they bayed. Tried to get some video of them baying but it was pretty thick and she  would break, the third bay we sent the catch dog and got her caught, absolutely the heaviest sow I have found in the woods, she'd go 250 or more, where most of our sows don't weigh over 150. She was also the fattest sow I have ever saw in the woods, she wasn't piggy-she appeared to be barren, and did not have pigs in her.
The boys called around tried to give the hogs away but didn't find anyone that wanted one as big as they were. Actually I wouldn't have killed them but the  fellow that owned the place had wanted whatever we caught dead, Tanner sent him pictures of them and he said we were welcome back anytime day or night, walk, drive or ride "hog huntin PR".

Yeah, that sow had all the characteristics of a barr except for the teeth haha. I gutted her but backed out of bringing her home because I was too lazy to cut her up this evening and it was way too warm to let her hang.

Lol she had somebody on every corner old man. I doubt she was going anywhere! The boar looks like he knew where the grocery store was too. Sounds like the dogs were putting the work in.

I don't lead this one except for a little ways before I send him "part of the routine" to help him learn not to go until he's sent. Just yesterday was the first time I sent him when he winded hogs rather than to bayed dogs or a hog he had seen. I could tell he was winding hogs and wanting to go, he didn't catch one but there will be a day. I don't want him casting and hunting. He has settled on the right ear being his spot of choice, except for a sow he caught loose that kept turning away from him when he'd start to run up beside her " he wound up catching her by the hind leg", he has been on the right ear for the last 10 or 12 . Have  used him solo the whole time. Making the kind of catchdog I like.
