I’m from North La.  I joined to learn from some pros.  I’m not your typical hog hunter.  I kinda am by proxy more or less.  These days, when you hunt dogs around here, you are gonna run into hogs.  I’m looking at some gear to protect my dogs best I can.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Where about North la. I like wildboar usa on most everything but there's all kinds of brands just depends on the conditions what kind of dog and what you want.

If your dogs are kinda gritty most any vest will work. Lighter the better. For crazy rough dog I would get p n p. I have tried most every best out there they work the best for me. They can be a bit heavy tho

I’m from Minden, La.  Thank you for helping me out.
I’ve got a:
Plott-70 plus lbs
2 Lacys- 50 plus
2 Mountain Curs 35-40

I read a post awhile back about some equipment that would sink a dog if wet.  I need to avoid that. Don’t want to drown my dogs.  We hunt bottoms, usually flooded. Also I had a boar hang my dog by the collar.  He pretty much cut it off and put a few holes in my dog.

I hunt mainly squirrels and coons with all 5 and blood trail for deer season.  The last couple of years we have become overrun with hogs.  Ive been taking a few out as I go.

I'd go with maybe a light bay vest or a cut collar they sale at the feed stores around here. It's solid orange, isn't as thick. Has some kind of pleather material on the inside.

There are so many we can’t help but get in the thick of them, multiple times every hunt.  My Plott and one of my Lacys can’t pass up a hog.  It don’t matter if you have the collar on 100.

After deer season dies down some, if anybody would like to come thin out some monsters, you are welcome to come stay at our house, and we will make sure we lay out plenty of food.

Welcome to the board. I hunt in west LA some.

Figure out what dogs catch and which dogs bay, and get a light vest for the dog that catches or even just a good cut collar, a big heavy vest in water is a no go in my book.
