We started this hunt about 3 wks ago. Got a call about a big boar on a feeder. Went there put out and got outrun. Dogs were soft and it was to hot and dry. Overheated a couple of my dogs. Got a call that the big hog was back so we went today We got a good strike on the way to the feeder but passed it by. Got to the feeder and it was empty and the hog had not been back so we went back where we got the strike. Could not find a track but we put two dogs out. They went a 150 yards down the road and cut in. They trailed across two roads before they jumped and we still didn’t know the size of the hog. The third rd they crossed we found his track and it was a big one. We packed some more dogs in and ran him 4 1/2 hours before he bayed. Sent in Charles bulldog and my chocolate bulldog and my 10 month old bulldog pup. My two had a ear and Charlie s dog caught on the leg. I was pretty stoked about my pup catching the ear on his first hog in the woods. Had some minor cuts and a serious leg cut on my Steel dog. He still cannot put it down. We had been getting a lot of rain this week and that really helped keeping the dogs cool. On the hunt we’re Charlie, Bryce and Brad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great dog work in tough conditions on a heck of a boar hog. Gotta make you proud to be feeding dogs with that kind of bottom. Hope your Steel dog makes a full recovery. Sounds like you have a good CD prospect on your hands to boot! Hope y’all got to hear the good parts of the race.

Thanks Guys. It was a heck of a race. We heard bits and pieces of it. He was definitely a educated hog. Shotgun, most of the time I like those dogs pretty well but once in a while they will pull something that leaves me shaking my head. I am pretty proud of that pup but always knew he had it in him.

yeah man,,, glad yall were able to get out and stretch yalls legs.. Fine boar hog ,, and a educated one it looks like,, Dogs that are on another level is the only ones that will finish a track like that and put him at the end of it... Im sure the hog was scratchin his head at the end saying my old tricks didnt work this time.. LOL..

Good Hunt, great race. Do you think overheated dogs will be okay- or have lasting effects?

Man I hope the hot dogs and old Steel get better quick. That’s a good hog and for sure something to be proud of with the bulldog pup.

Clue I have overheated Hank 3 times this year and Showtime and Yellow twice. Twice I have had to rush them to the creek to get them cooled off. I thought Hank was ruined because he didnt seem to be the same dog but this hunt he shined. He trailed, jumped and ran this hog a long ways before we sent him some help. We have finally been getting some rain and I know that helped keeping the dogs cool. The jury is still out on Steel.

Wow he sounds like my kind of dog. He’s the size dog I like and knowing what his parents look like I’m sure he’s a really nice type. I’m happy he’s turning out for you. Neither of the two I raised are my kind of dogs. Physically the turned out nice but they have terrible dispositions. She was really shy. One day she’d be fine the next day you were a stranger. He’s super hard headed but doesn’t take correction well, even if it’s very minor. Doesn’t bite but gets hard to catch. Today was his last chance. They just aren’t wired right.
