Quick hunt, 2 finished bmcs, 2 started 1yr olds, struck a big boar 5 minutes into the hunt, he finally bayed in an impossible to get through briar thicket. I managed to somehow get in position to shoot him and missed the shot low, aiming for his ear I hit the jaw. He broke and dumped the curs on this smaller boar, we skinned it and got home early bc of work in the morning didn't have a round 2 in me. Only bad thing is after the shot my yr old quit hunting and stayed with us, it definitely spooked him

That hog looks healthy. Glad you caught him and I hope the young dogs figures it out.

Normally when I used to hunt on a week night, it would turn into a all night affair. Good hog and dogwork.

Good hog man.  Some young dogs have different levels of attitude and forgiveness in shooting over them.  Hopefully with more repetition he will accept it.   I’ve had dogs before come to me when they see us going in to shoot and leave the other dogs baying.  But would never leave the bay if we are using a catch dog.  They all have their quirks.

Hoghunters do it deeper in the bush.
