Made a hunt with Larry Smith and Charlie Gaines up in Ms. Friday all we did was squash pigs. Saturday we ran that boar for two hours in a flooded cutover. We could here the dogs breaking water and swimming whenever we were close. Finally they pushed him out and he hit the open woods. They ran him another hour and caught him. I was sure proud of two of those pups that made the race from start to finish. Went and ate lunch and decided to go back out. Around 2:00 we found a track. Dogs trailed it out and split. We found Showtime bayed and caught a big spotted sow. Other dogs we caught up around 5:00.
Next morning we caught two sows by 8:30 and called it a day

Looks like a good hunt but are you trying to turn it into March already.

Somebody figured out how to get those pictures posted!

Sounds like the dogs real well. That boar is proof you don’t need a big knife, just a sharp one to do damage.

I sure like the looks of that young bulldog. I’m assuming that’s one of your pups getting to see a first hog?

That was some pretty woods, but I'd guess a flooded cutover would be real tough running. They must still be holding you guys out of the marsh.

Clue, yes they will not let us on the management area until the river drops to 16.5'.
T Dog, yes that is one of the pups from that last litter of bulldogs that belongs to my buddy. He has not had much exposure but when we dragged a dead hog by him he sure caught it. Everyone of the others are catching.
WOW I dont know about spring yet, it was 29 degrees Sat. morning but it did warm up pretty nice. That is why I was so impressed with those pups. They were wading and swimming in that cold water for 2 hours before they pushed that hog out.

Fine job on them young dogs to have the bottom to stick it out in those circumstances.. they definitely have what it takes..

Wow I just noticed that. There I go again, getting ahead of my self. lol
Highwater those are some sure enough pretty woods with a lot of hills and hollers. If they wouldnt of cut a lot of the timber out they would be perfect. Those cutovers are sure enough rough on man and dogs. The hog population is pretty stable over there.
