EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

My buddy and I had been talking for several weeks about his brother coming home for a couple of weeks from Iraq. He has been over there for quit awhile and when he comes home we try to line up a good hog hunt for him. We meet up at the property at day break and after some laughing and a little B-s-ing we loaded the dogs on the four wheeler and headed down the main road on the property. After a short ride down the trail we turn the dogs loose. They went in the woods around 500 yards and split up. Graham came back to us. Cheetah, Cross, and the pup where quick to get out of hearing about .71 to be exact. We loaded Graham on the four wheeler and headed towards them. Half way to the dogs we could see on the garmin that they where bayed right on the bank of the river. We pulled down to the end of the trail which ended on the river. As soon as we turn the four wheeler off we could hear cross and cheetah bayed solid. We grabed the bulldog and headed that way. When we got to the bay it was not good. 10 foot shear drop big nasty 275 boar with teeth in about two foot of water at the bottom. Before doing some much needed consideration I turn the bulldog loose ( proven 90lb AB ) straight over the bank he went. After a brief scuffle the bulldog had the hog caught. Out into the river they went. For the next thirty minutes my bulldog and two bay dogs had taken the worst beating they have ever taken. It was a very bad situation that should have been thought about alot more. After hanging from vines from the side of the bank we where able to catch one bay dog and the cd that was cut up and idled from taking in way to much water. Cross sat and bayed the hog for twenty-five more minutes while robert went all the way back to the truck and got the 45-70. When he got back he head shot the hog. The hog starts out into the river. Robert says thats the biggest hog he's ever killed. So to get a pic of the pig he strips down to his underwear and jumps into the river after the hog. I have to say thatts a nice boar hog. As for the photo, sure hope some of the guys buddies don't get ahold of that and put in a singles ad on the internet!

The funniest part of that is the night before this hunt he went to see the new Jackass 3D movie, we were talking about the movie while we collaring the dogs before the hunt...lol

After running down the bank for 300 yards and then hitting that water, it surely took the breathe right out of me.  That water was cold going in but was not that bad waiting Gumswamp and SC Hog Wild to go get the four wheeler to pull the boar hog out of the water. :o :)

They can pick on me all they want, I would do it all again with no regret.  How many hogs have they killed lately?  Just want to tell Gumswamp and SC Hog Wild thank you for one of the best hunts ever and glad that the dogs are doing well.  Make sure you do not kill them all before I return again.

Curr Dog when you going to put the pictures of those three you caught Sat. on the site.  I enjoy looking at the pictures from SC and boys over can not believe the hogs that we catch.

we hunt to catch hogs if we wanted pics we would put up a trail cam

I can hunt all weekend and say that I caught three hogs or I could take a picture and prove that I killed my biggest hog ever.  Why go hunted if you do not have something to remember the hunt by.

pretty much always have stapled up dogs to remember the hunt we carrier so many staple guns dont  really  have room for a camera

We get back to Colorado around the middle of March and then we will have off from the middle of April till the middle of May.  That is what the plan is right now.

I can vouch for the staple guns used on the labor day hunt, they were mine and he was worried about my dogs being catchy. ???

Bugbuster where are the dogs that actually caught that big boar. Talked to SC hog wild. Sounded a little disappointed that him and hercules didn't get in the pic for shooting those other pigs.

Gum Swamp we need to get SC hog wild and Hercules some help them boys are natural born killers I felt bad for them hogs they unleashed some pure havoc on them unsuspecting swine

You take those pictures with a trail camera?  Just kidding, those are some nice hogs.  Do not kill them all.

Gump Swamp I will post a bigger picture of the dog that caught the hog for you.  He was also assisted by two of curr dog's bay dogs, candy and black dog.  The reason they are not picture is there were in TICU (tailgate intensive care unit).  Let me know if you want to see a picture of the dog that found the big drove and then the lone boar hog an hour later and I will post.
