Title: Language of CSHB 1451 has just been released Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on May 19, 2011, 02:46:43 pm You can read it here. This is Whitmires committee substitute for HB 1451, and it is headed to the floor of the Senate today.
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/82R/billtext/html/HB01451S.htm There is an exemption for Dogs that are exclusively used to herd livestock, and Hunting Dogs used to Point, flush, and retrieve. The term "livestock" as defined in the Ag-Code is found in 1.003 of the Ag-Code. The definition is as follows, Sec. 1.003. DEFINITIONS. In this code: (3) "Livestock" means cattle, horses, mules, asses, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, exotic livestock, including elk and elk hybrids, and hogs, unless otherwise defined. Title: Re: Language of CSHB 1451 has just been released Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on May 19, 2011, 02:55:14 pm Do not be swayed by the exemptions. If this bill passes the Senate it will go to conference committee. They will work out the differences between the House and Senate bills and present a bill to be passed by both the House and Senate.
There is no guarantee that the exemption would survive the conference committee. There is also the good possibility of that exemption being removed by amendment in a later session if it does pass with the exemption intact. 1451 is headed to thee floor, call you Senator. Vote NO on CSHB 1451. |
