Title: 1/13 & 1/14 Hunts Post by: matt_aggie04 on January 14, 2012, 08:39:59 pm With deer season winding down me and my good buddy Peyton decided to make a round at a place we share. We turned out at 12:30 and by 3:30 we had seven hogs down and had seen probably 40 head if hogs. We then spent the next 3-4 hours trying to catch a rank boar hog but bulldogs were spent and the boar hog was smart so we left him for another day. I will say Doc and Little Girl put on a clinic, Doc is 18 months old and Little girl is about 8 months old and they found 4-5 of the hogs we caught.

Not more than 5 minutes after the dogs were down they hit a group that swam the Brazos :(. Well after a lot of tense moments and hard work by Mike and Bryant over the next 2.5 hours they got to Smiley, Hunter, and Striker and got them back across the river. I know it takes good video just that where we were is not the best place for quality footage. Thanks for the comments, it was a fun weekend!

Had a great time and going have to hit it again soon.. I am going to start leaving a extra bulldog at the truck because it seems like after a long day we bay the big boy last when the other bull is give out..lol

Thelma hasn't been hunted quite as much as I'd like for her to have been but for her age she is doing fine. This was the first hunt where I have seen her strike and bay solo till the bulldogs showed up. I was proud of her. She really likes to have a buddy with her which I don't like but I think she may grow out of it with time and trips to the woods without her buddies. This was the first time she had ever been without another dog from the house. She is also just coming out heat which may have her acting a little funny.
Doc is about as solid as you could want. He has been on plenty of hogs, has a solid steady pace, doesnt miss many hogs, and has really good bottom, he's pretty impressive to hunt behind. Peyton has really done good by him and I think has some plans to breed him this spring.
