Title: Fridays hunt Post by: Wmwendler on February 20, 2012, 04:57:07 pm Nothing special, I just had my Paris btch and Newt pup on the ground. Found this boar shoat thats in the picture running by himself. He did not want to stay hooked and would bay then break. He did that several times before the dogs solved his problem and caught him about 200 yards from where they started him. We moved on and hunted out the rest of the area and didn't find anything else. Moved over to a different spot and turned loose hunting down a fence line. It did'nt take long and the dogs left out looking hoggy. I walked down a ways and found the track they left on it was a good boar track. I drifted in the direction I thought they went and after a while they opened about 600 yards out. The bay broke before I got there and the boar must have shucked Newt onto some other hogs because he split off onto a different hog. They didn't get either one shut down.
Dang Newt is too tall for my dog box. (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b364/Waylon8885/DSC01315.jpg) Waylon Title: Re: Fridays hunt Post by: justincorbell on February 20, 2012, 05:07:00 pm Congrats.....looks like a good hunt to me!

Title: Re: Fridays hunt Post by: Wmwendler on February 22, 2012, 08:25:27 am Newt looks to have a little hound in him. His ancestors ate hounds for breakfast if thats what you mean. popo In all seriousness. What about his looks makes you think that? Other than his color. He is straight out of a line of stock bred Cur dogs that was bred by the same man for 50+ years before he passed away too soon about 10 years ago. That goes back before there were very many wildhogs and these were stockdogs used on free range livestock (mostly cattle). Before him, his dad raised Cur dogs, so they go even farther than that. He did not care to even hunt with a hound let alone breed to one. I learned that first hand. When I was about 13 or 14 I had a black and tan hound pup I wanted to start. So I brought him allong on a hunt that we were invited by him to come on and he told me to leave my hound on the lead. I was taught well at a young age. ;D Waylon Title: Re: Fridays hunt Post by: Wmwendler on February 22, 2012, 08:28:01 am Thanks for the compliments on the pup by the way.

That was the first thing i thought when I seen the pic, actually done a double take at who posted it. LOL
