When are dog owners going to voice their concerns about these bills?
Here is like to the every changing HB 1451. It's a law and it changes weekly and some times daily. Why doesn't every one else see this. I try to inform but seems like every one just sits back and I can only do so much.

Where is the support to help stop this??

So after reading that little snip it, it doesnt seem like the bill is still what it was when it was created. Does this bill still need support, or are you suggesting that a new one like OK's needs to be created? What can we do to help? What senators need to be contacted about this bill? What exactly should hunters say to people that are interested in what is going on?

They are removing all the working dog and hunting dog exemptions from this bill a little at a time.  All hunters need to support TDHA or Lwsda because we stand with RPOA in fighting this and keeping up with it every day.

When a bill is passed and the committee keeps changeing it day after day it's just wrong.

Ye sir it is Mr.Mason. I am trying to educate myself on what's what... and this bill is something that needed to pass, but looks like it's going to be a completely new bill before that happens. I think that there is going to need to be something state wide happening before there is a bill to get more aceptance to the dogging comunity. I think that if we can find some type of easy medium, and prove that we doggers really do care and want to help, that we can move forward. I was also thinking about something last night as well... if there was someway that we could get the HSUS and PETA to understand what these animals do they wouldn't fight us so hard on it. If we could come up with some type of regulations, or for that matter any laws specific to dogging I think that we'd be better off. I understnd the need for the breeders' bill, but what if you're not breeding...? There is still a lot of gray area, and with that comes misunderstanding or not understanding at all. So how is anyone going support something they do not understand...? and for that matter know how to support it...? Please list some ways and maybe some people to get intouch with that we could voice our opinions to.

I have read with interest these posts and have supported groups fighting this legislation. But I am confused. I thought there were exemptions for working dogs already made law.

email address because the education has begun!
We must counter the "Animal Rights" Propaganda being spread by HSUS and
Texas Humane Legislation Network.
Tell them the Austin Chronicle Article below proves the Animal Rights
Extremists will NEVER be satisfied with HB 1451 as all breeders are
Puppy/Kitten Mills to them!

When Rep. Senfronia Thompson, D-Hous­ton, took to a lectern at the Capitol
last winter, she brought with her a stuffed dog. "We're into cats and dogs,"
she said, holding the toy in her arm as she announced the filing of a bill
aimed at putting out of business "puppy mill" operations - large-scale
breeding operations where animals are subjected to nonstop breeding cycles
while living in unsanitary and otherwise inhumane conditions. The point was
not to outlaw animal breeding, she made clear, but instead to ensure that
large-scale cat and dog breeders conduct their businesses in a legitimate
and humane way - in turn ensuring the sale of healthy and happy animals.

Now that the bill has passed and a set of regulations has been adopted, it
remains unclear whether cats and dogs bred in the state will actually be
living in more humane conditions.

The bill that passed required the Texas Department of Licensing and
Regulation to appoint a Licensed Breeder Advisory Committee to propose a set
of regulations for the department to adopt. The committee did its work, but
after a marathon meeting March 27, TDLR commissioners voted 5-1 (the seventh
was absent) to reject a number of key regulations worked out by the
committee, including a regulation related to the size of animal cages; a
requirement that flooring in those cages be, in part, made of solid
materials; and a regulation that would require that certain "surgical
procedures" - including declawing, ear and tail docking, and "debarking," or
cutting a dog's vocal cords - be performed only by a licensed vet. Why the
commission - save one member, LuAnn Roberts Morgan, a former member of the
Midland City Council - rejected the recommended care standards is unclear.
"I know what happened, but I don't know why," says Skip Trim­ble, a veteran
Dallas attorney who serves as legislative chair of the Texas Humane
Legislation Network. "For whatever reason, the animals have lost some
quality of life for some time to come."

TDLR Commission Chair Frank Denton told his fellow commissioners that he
thought the committee should go back and work more on these issues before
the agency adopts any strict rules. He said he wasn't concerned that animals
would be hurt by the current set of rules that are far less strict than
those hashed out by the committee; at least the breeding industry will now
have some rules to follow, he said. "If you look where we came from ...

THLN, Humane Society of the US (HSUS), and ASPCA have joined forces once
again in Texas -- which is always bad news for animal owners. Don't forget
their joint "Lobby Day" during the last session of the Texas Legislature.
These three "animal rights" organizations do not support local animal
shelters with their donations. They were the driving force behind HB 1451,
the anti-breeding bill, which doesn't even include the word "commercial" in
reference to dog and cat breeders in Texas. Just a first step for them.

This time their rallying call is against Texas Department of Licensing and
Regulation (TDLR) and they are misleading the media and legislators with
their propaganda campaign.

HSUS generated 10,000 form letters from all over the country to TDLR
regarding the Rules being written to administer HB 1451. The basic USDA
regulations cannot be met in a home environment and the extremists want even
stricter regulations. To build a separate facility for USDA compliance has
been estimated for some dog and cat breeders at $30,000 to $50,000 so they
are moving out of state or terminating their breeding programs. Show/hobby
breeders are caught in the crossfire and there will be a loss of gene pools
(dogs and cats) if we let the extremists win.

The THLN Press Release title is: Texas Department of Licensing and
Regulation Commission disappooints animal *welfare* organizations and puts
thousands of animals at risk. Their press release also contains a link to
"help fund their efforts to help these and other animals." NOT!

If you scroll down, there's a link to an old THLN 2009 press release with
outright lies about RPOA. The extremists can't win with facts and the truth
so are forced to stoop to this level. RPOA has administered a statewide Pet
Education, Assistance & Purebred Rescue Program for 21 years! What have the
extremists done in Texas besides legislate animal ownership out of
existence?
