EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

I don't mean bulldog crosses, I mean pure yellow or red blackmouths that made good catch dogs. Is there any particular strain or breeder that is known for this? Years ago, Howard Carnathan of Tupelo, Mississippi claimed his would.

I got a little red Ladner that will catch like a bull dog and a east tx cur that do along with my cats and fl cur lol

Thought hers were Ben bred dogs with Florida dogs mixed in?

They are definitely out there. Alotta fellas down here in Florida that i know only run cur dogs like i do. I wont own a cur dog that wont stop a hog and catch it when i get there.

If I remember right montys are carnathan bred.

Well if ur gonna keep the thread at strictly catch dog and not running catch then this brindle cur that judge posted is strictly catch. This bad sob don't get off the buggy till he's led in to catch and he does his job well.

I've hunted with a few over the years. Damn good dogs.  Jeremy Waters ended up with her old Scout dog. He would catch an elephant if it was bayed

Michelle's dogs made good hogdogs, but weren't worth a flip on cows. Must of been that buckskin rednose pit bulldog she bred into them. That pretty much ruined the herding instinct of the Ben blood she had in my opinion. ;) They did make decent hog dogs though. My buddy had one that was straight catch.

I know I've used this picture a couple times and I'll get around to a new one tomorrow. But this is my Beauford dog. Last litter off of Scout. He is straight catch. All I have now is Mears dogs and all of them are catchy or straight catch. What do yah think Florida Curdog, looks just like Scout? I'll try and get some photos in the next day or two.

Oh yeah. He looks real good.  I wish them pups would have made it when we bred Scout to Honey.  They would have been some sure enough alligators lol

Yessir they are out there. And I highly recommend trying a couple.

Wouldn't necessarily look at the line.....but the individual dog.

Sure wish somebody had a sure enough straight catch yella gyp they wanted to get bred...I would sure like to get some pups outa my Tuff dog before its to late!
 
I know everyone has there own terms but i like to call him a FINDER/HOLDER. You can put him on the ground by himself and he will wind or take a track strike his own hog, bark a couple times then catch an ear.

You can also lead him in and use him as a cd alone and he can get the job done.

I have been hunting for the right female for a pretty good while now but nobody seems to have on that sure enough straight catch! I guess I am just going to end up putting him over the right leggy athletic pit or some "rcd" style dog

I got one buddy straight catch on any hog and will find her own I have got two good litters out of her she is red tho her parents where yella and 4 litters she was the only red dog she has thrown yellas reds and blacks if your intrested pm me I got lot of reff on this dog and her litters
