I have a gyp that's hair is thinning and almost looks as though her skin is irritated. She's been on some extra meds from previous visits bcuz that's what the vet recommended. But it only seems too work a little. Anybody ever experienced this or have any advice too help out.

Could na a mild case of mange? It may be a skin allergy she picked up somewhere.

Could be nerves or something in her food some dogs can have a nervous problem

A lot of it has to do with their diet, my sister in laws blue healer kept skin and hair problems and she took her to the vet and kept buying all kinds of shampoos and stuff was getting no results. I looked at what they were feeding her and the first 3 ingredients on the bag were all grain by products. Dogs are natural carnivores and need a predominantly meat based diet. I swapped her over to what we feed the working dogs and in two weeks she was slicked off nice.

Definately could be a food allergy. Try changing her fees as mentioned to a grain free feed. No corn,, wheat or soy. Also,  you can give her fish oil in her feed, or brewers yeast tablets.

I had a dog that lost all the hair on his back end and it was fleas, even though we were trying to treat the fleas with flea powder, flea collars, flea shampoo etc, nothing worked until they brought out those drops. Then I noticed his skin stopped being irritated and some hair grew back, though not all, it was permanently de-haired over a lot of his rump area, but it was obvious the irritation was gone.

Your dog could have something else entirely going on just sharing my experience. Apparently some dogs have a really bad reaction to fleas and you can think you're treating them but actually the only thing that works are those poisonous drops you put on the dogs back, which are relatively new. I went through all this in the late 80s/early 90s.

rub nu-stock on the affected area a few times for a couple weeks. guarntee the hair will grow back

Vet can tell if its mange or skin allergy.  Wiill treat with cortisone shot an some good flea meds if its allergies. Dog will quit scratching and hair will grow back for a while. Dog will always have them and will continue to cost you money.
