Title: 2-24-15 Post by: Cajun on February 24, 2015, 05:55:07 pm Went today with my buddies Andy & Charlie. We turned loose at 6:30 & the dogs went 400-500 yards & struck & it was off to the races. They ran this hog for about a hour & we packed some more dogs in. After running for about 3 more hours the dogs split. I was showing two of mine treed & Andy had two of his showing treed. Red Gal & two of andy's gyps, Charlie's TNT dog that he bought from Andy wet still going south. they were .85 of a mile in &we tried to find a closer way in but no go. andy & I started in & had gone about 300 yards we noticed the dogs moving out & headed on the same trail as Red Gal & the others. Amber was still showing treed so I kept walking to her & Andy went to catch up with Charlie. I got to Amber & did not see the hog so I walked out. I found out later that another hog hunter went in to the dogs & killed the hog & that is why they left.
I got around to where Andy & Charlie were parked & Andy called and said they caught the hog & had some dogs busted up pretty good. They came on out with the other hog hunter helping get the boar out. His dogs had run to ours & he said the plots had that lil boar stretched so he went ahead & killed it. Andy's two gyps Mighty Mouse & Zipper & TNT did outstanding making that race since they have not been hunted in over two months & were out of shape. Red Gal is doing pretty good herself for a 15 month old. So we ended up with a 100# boar & a 175# boar. Nice of the other to help you guys out.
Are your plotts open or silent on track? My walker is loud and very open on track but i hunt with 2 different guys that have plotts and out of the 3 plotts, 2 are silent on track and the 3 rd barks every breath. The WMA where we have been hunting has been getting hammered by hog hunters since 2-1-15. The hogs that are left are survivors that have been out running those cur dogs. >:D, Plotts, not so much.lol
