Looking for ways to break a dog off of sizing up other dogs that tend to lead towards small scuffles. His daddy tends to have the same problems with certain dogs . I know some people use the old foot in a** method or shock collars is there any other way . I'm really trying not cull him for that cause he does try to hunt and get along with other dogs most of the time. But I do know its a distraction to my hunting buddies that's not needed. Any advice would help.

Foot in a$$ and shock collar are about the only things i would recommend. Careful with a collar though. I wouldnt shock a dog while its Actually fighting or real close to it because i bet he would associate it with the other dog. I would keep a collar on him and every time he even looked funny at the other dog i'd buzz him with it. And if a fight breaks out thats when he gets the boot. I had an english coonhound that was funny around other males and it helped him. I never had to just beat the hell out if him. I'd just get his attention real good and let him know that i wouldnt put up with it. He cought on real quick.

I always kept a lil piece of water hose layn around that usually cuts the crap pretty ricky tick. I have shock collars but i dont really use them in the yard i teach my dogs im the boss like i do the kids

Them water hoses work great and r cheaper than a shocker but a shocker can reach a lil further than the hose.

Leash up side the head and the words get ahead go hand in hand lol

I have a dog that likes to size other dogs up. I have tried the shock collar and from my opinion it does not work good for this. When their bristled up and you shock them its usually game on if you know what I mean. I think the best thing to do is be pretty close and catch him by the back leg and don't cut him no slack. But in all honesty if a dog is doing this and keeps on that's all it has on his mind and its not hunting and a good culling will fix the problem or just hunt the dog solo.

I once bred a growly dog that was a pain to deal with...most all the pups acted the same...ever since I don't waste much time on those type of dogs...just don't tolerate that behavior...
