Title: I'm back... again
Post by: Swine-Stalker on December 08, 2016, 02:22:54 pm
Been a while since I've been here. Haven't been myself lately as my domestic situations had to be dealt with, and that situation kept me out of the woods a hair more than usual. Started a divorce, then the Louisiana flooding, which I was spared from. Still helping here and there to get people on their feet... and still dealing with the last 7 months of my waiting period for the divorce... but I'm good and everything is slowly turning for the good. I've been working the pups more and taking them to the woods. I like what I see for the most part and they will all get their fair shake starting in February.

Some of you may remember my litter of all black dogs. I kept half and the other half went to the friend that had the stud. He is also pleased with his

I showed all but one of them a hog and they seemed to do fine. The one I didn't show was healing from a broken leg. She broke it at 5 months old. I chicken winged it as per advice from a hunting buddy and user named SEMMES. She made a full recovery.

As for the other 3, the third male takes 2 steps up and one back but progress is progress right?

One of 2 females is doing great. Nothing spectacular, but I am just now in the stages of working them without their pack leader brother to figure out their worth. She has done an average job from day 1 with slow progression.

The last of the litter, the broken leg female aptly named "Aileen" (I lean) got a very late start due to recovery, and didn't want anything to do with a hog. Last weekend was her third time to see a hog and she was baying the fire pit of it when it squeaked from being caught by her big brother Cheif. I'm mostly enjoying her progress as the deck was stacked against her and I though for sure she wouldn't be here.

My cd pup from SEMMES is Roux-ga-roux... the old coonass name for a mythical swamp monster, and I call her Roux. I have posted about her several times. I'm very proud of her progress and at 2yrs old she has retired my main CD and is now my lead. She caught ear anchored and held, having to be broken off of 3 pigs last week... no fuss, no fight, just business. Now that almost of my mess is behind me... I'll try not to disappear again

Cody, I know we hunting partners and all and talk weekly, but thought I'd put it on the board. Even tho the title is, I'm back, you and yours ain't never left my thoughts. I will walk thru it with u as long as u allow just as you walked thru it with me better n 5 years ago...

Life is a fluid thing and we a grow and move on and at same time draw on what's past....

What don't kill us make us stronger and in turn those around and part of us gain strength.

On the dogs... They gone be good!

Can't wait till deer season over to get back at em...

On a brighter, more upbeat note tho, my phone full of pics if our kids growin up together fishing and hintibg and dogging, and we all family.

Man aint no better we can do but what we do...

Thanks folks. I let it beat me up a bit... but not for long. I'm a firm believer that I am the keeper of my own happiness.

I can't really use it as an excuse for staying out of the woods as much as I did, but a man has to do what a man has to do to try and save 12 years of marriage... but it can't be done with one side pushing and the other pulling. I didn't cave and give myself up tho, still have the same number of dogs lol.

Obie, you are right we are family... brothers! We have been through a lot in our short time and I know you have my back as I do yours.

Now away from all that domestic talk... mike, you're right! I get to hunt more now... and part of that will be traveling a few times a year. Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida are a few stops I plan to make

Swine stalker here is mine in the opposite direction. I was gonna go more toward the mellman side but the loss of my full mellman gyp ended that. This is my spook dog who is out of my litter mate sister to your 1/2 Parker 1/2 Mellman and is by my full Parker male (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161209/bc22292c1e81169ec0713f9eb3ed980a.jpg)

That is the truth. Guys want to go hunting until they see me load Sammie who is the 1/2 Parker 1/2 mellman. She has no quit in her. My full mellman gyp was just the same. This male pup is probably the hardest hunting pup I've ever seen so I'm pretty excited to see where he goes if I can keep him alive lol  I don't have great luck with keeping good ones alive it seems  lol.

Yeah I was kidding myself when I said, maybe...

There was definate times I just wanted it to stop...

Lol.

Heard others say bout the grandam Lou...'I'm just gone leave now I'd you fixn ta drop her' hahahaha...

Sure made for a all nighter...

I'm too darn old for that now... But it was good times that I'll never forget. Glad I got to see those dogs with that kind of bottom...

Title: Re: I'm back... again
Post by: Semmes on December 09, 2016, 06:57:56 pm
Should say 'cur dogs' with that kind bottom...

My old running buddy that had Lou and Lola had a plott from Larry S before that, he has as much bottom for sure but hunted slower and took closer tracks so it was long just or as exciting...

But a cur with the bottom of a hound that sticks a hot track on a running hog and run it fast and forever and only bawls when they get it stopped long enough for it to catch its breath  is def an exciting thing!

Did the Lou or Lola dogs come from a fella named Des from around Hempstead, Tx???

Mike, did you get to hunt with Lou as well? She was Lola's dam....

Lola was a black dog with a white blaze, Lou was a saddle backed looking tri color.

I think these dogs did come from des. Guy that used to post in a dif board hunted with them as well, used to post as 'real dawg' I think...dint know if he posted in here as well?

What was your take in those dogs Mike?

Lou was really something else... To me, but I admittedly ain't seen as much as alot of folks...

I'm pretty sure it was the Lola gyp... I remember the white blaze face. I liked the dogs Des had, he caught a ton of hogs with them. I don't remember much about our hunts as it was so long ago.

Scott used to post on here years ago.
