Title: Garmin collars Post by: kevin on February 16, 2017, 08:53:26 am What are the most reliable Garmin collars now days? Obviously not dc20 or dc 40. I'm looking for reliability. When I turn it on, I want it to work.
Title: Re: Garmin collars Post by: chipolariverman on February 16, 2017, 08:27:28 pm You ain't got much to choose from if you buy new, T-5 or TT-15. T-5 is only track and TT-15 is track & train but you may already know this.
They are pushing out the DC-50s and TT-10s and don't even work on the DC-40, 30s or 20s anymore. I personally have not (knock on some hard wood) had much problems with my TT-15s except had a couple of the GPS fine wire broken due to hogs but I run covers over that part now. I still run a couple of DC-40s, DC-50s and the TT-15s at the same time with 3 different units on my ride and I am hesitant to say that the 50s and 15s will track that much further than the old 40s. I was pleasantly surprised and now I will be purchasing 4 more T5 collars! I don't lose signal near as often and don't have to climb trees as much to pick them back up anymore!
Can't wait till the Alpha 200 comes out though! It's got dual directional stimulation for those friends who always shock their dogs off a "deer race". When it's actually a hog, the handheld will deliver a gentle stimulation back to the handheld! https://youtu.be/9CvV-vNcyH0 Title: Re: Garmin collars Post by: decker on February 17, 2017, 02:06:29 pm I had to buy a new system last year and went with the alpha with tt15's and I already had two t5's, and like everyone else said knock on wood I haven't had any problems, they pick up good and pretty far, and don't lose signal near as much as the 40's and 50's. I had them all from the 20's up. the 30's were tough as can be but they don't make or work on them anymore.
