Title: Young Dogs
Post by: l.h.cracker on January 21, 2023, 08:39:41 pm
Let my buddy take my Peaches gyp to hunt with his 1yr old Jo last weekend while I was on vacation they're halfsisters. They ended up baying 6 or 7 on the weekend and he said Peaches did a fine job trailing on the last boar only got a couple of pics but I was happy they did good.

Then yesterday we carried Peewee,Kong,Kc,Peaches and Jo to a farm we hunt and Caught 3, the first drop I put Kc and Kong out they went a half mile on a rope and each caught a small sow had to gather up because we were on the property line, second drop Peaches, Peewee and Jo carried a sow a mile in the swamp and had her stretched we were all hungry and called it after that.

This morning we carried Peewee,Kong and Jo to another property on the river this was the first time we'd been here and had no idea of the lay of the land or hog patterns found some tracks and put them out, the hogs had walked all night it looked like and it took them awhile to locate them, they painted about 500acres of short pines / Briars and finally jumped about .50 to the north. They lined out a good boar and had him shut down and bayed solid in about a mile.I got a little bit to excited for the young dogs and wanted to video the bay but got to close and busted it for them.He broke and they ran him another 2miles before I had to call them off because we had gotten off the club.I hate I messed it up for them. Its been really fun hunting these young dogs lately they have a long ways to go but are sure trying  to make me happy.Peewee is doing a good job     with showing Kong and Jo the way.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230122/235c925c149aa91f424a1b5b57e6bab0.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230122/88c354f9572b6cea0e8e8d184206c546.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230122/faead9b12308d64a7ef2a24f816aa8e3.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230122/90dfa76f26d13625f69f5d66a006c211.jpg)

Come on maaaan, what were you thinking? Lol, just picking. It sounds like they are turning the crank. That’ll make ya feel like a proud poppa. Glad it’s going good for you.

I was wondering why some of our hogs run so bad and now that I see the evidence I know the reason why.  Always like to see the young dogs stepping up and hunting them is the only way to get there. Nice hunt. Hopefully in about a week, we will be out there.

Fine hunting for them young dogs to put one at the end of a race like that.   They learning every day out and that’s the only way to succeed in it.   Fine hunt
