Larry parish makes really nice custom vests. Last vest I called and ordered, I spoke to his wife, she knew exactly what some of my measurement would be just from me telling her the width and breed of dog.
(580) 367-2860 to order, I got it pretty quick too

When I was a kid I had a basset that found a couple out in a field. I brought them home and set them up in an apple box. Fed them baby formula too, they were pretty calm until they got that formula in them. Once they got a little energy they were a handful, they would jump nonstop in the box all night. Next morning one was dead, I think it broke its neck jumping. I turned the other one loose behind our place. Ive kept a lot of wild critters with no problem, but those rabbits were high strung and hated being caged even being that young.

Great topic. I know I'm constantly watching my dogs and trying to learn. To start from the beginning, what do you look for in a pup? I'm always curious about what others look for, and ask that question a lot.
How they interact with you? How they interact with each other? How they react to new scents?
I probably spent 2 hours watching a litter before I picked my last pup. I asked the fella I got him from what he looked for. He told me "not trying to brag, but I think they all got a good chance of turning out good, I usually end up with what's leftover after everybody else picks what them want and they seem to turn out alright. If they don't turn out, no offense......but maybe it's something you're doing wrong."
After all that I ended up leaving with the 1st dog that came and followed me out of the kennel home when I called them.
I thought a lot about what he told me though, and I really believe that if the dog has the genetic potential to be good, I as an owner have a huge responsibility to give that dog every possible opportunity to learn, develop and reach its maximum potential. I'm harder on my dogs, but can be even harder on myself about them.
I always see guys looking for finished dogs to buy and never really understood that. Lots of ups and downs from the time that pup followed me out of the kennel, to the time I heard him barking at the first one he found in the woods........but it's a pretty good feeling to hear that bark, and its not a feeling you can buy.

I used to use a tracker classic telemetry setup. I don't think they make them anymore, but have seen used ones for sale for pretty cheap
