TDHA ALERT, HB 2116 "posting rules suspended"

Here is the calendar report from yesterday concerning 2116, it appears that they had a meeting about this yesterday after the house adjourned.

FIVE-DAY POSTING RULE SUSPENDED
Representative Marquez moved to suspend the five-day posting rule and all necessary rules to allow the Committee on County Affairs to consider HB 2116 and HB 3788 upon final adjournment today in E2.016.
The motion prevailed.

Here is what you need to know about this bill. If you keep your dog (when you are not there, or at night, or when it is hot, cold or stormy) on a chain or in a kennel less than 150 square feet for each dog over 6 months you are committing a CLASS B MISDEMEANOR (punishable by up to 180 days in jail and up to $2,000 fine.). It also includes the 'breeder" language similar to the others we have seen before.

A few things to note. Coleman sponsored this bill and he is the chair of the committee it is in. It is probably going to get out of committee no matter what, but we have to watch this and do everything possible to defeat it. It is possible that they were just meeting about it. Call your representative, call the people on the committee. Smith, the sponsor of the working dog bill, is on this committee.

I for one do not appreciate the state making me a criminal. Please let everyone know about this bill. For goodness sakes, I just read an article on yahoo about a woman in New York whose apartment is 90 sq. feet. 90% of horse stalls are 144 sq. feet. The most common panel size sold at Tractor Supply, Gebo's, Lowe's, etc. is 10 ft. There have to people all over the state who have a 10x10 kennel. Leave your dog in it overnight and you are a criminal.
