It's seems to vary by region. For example, I used to with some fellas down in South Texas years back...

Short range... beside or behind the truck.

Medium range... in the headlights.

Long range... out past the headlights.

Hahaha. Might I add a medium range finished dog is one who has learned how far I can accurately throw a rock and hunts right outside that range

I have had all of the above at one time or another... Shocked Grin
