If you don't mind spending the extra money, DANNER Snake boots are the way to go. 17" tall, and I wear mine everyday to work. They're waterproof (Gore-tex), snakeproof (which means they're puncture proof) and the first pair of snake boots to last me (wear them from august thru April 5-6 days a week) for three years.
mine in action, but if you got big calves then look at the lace up ones, they got rings the laces go thru instead of hooks.
