I hunt with my brother. As you know all brothers have a disagreements. He brought out his started strike that's been goin good. So anyways he got cut under his leg right in the groin. About 3" away from his Johnson. So I took him home got him stapled up cleaned out and all ready to heal up left a little space for pus to drip out the back and did what I was taught to do by people that have been in this sport for 20years. The cut is about 5" good cut. His dog is hard headed and has a history of pulling out staples. So I told him that he needed to put a cone on him the next day and make sure that he was doing good. Give him 3-4 days of pencilin and b-12 vitamins and spray vetricin in that hole every day so he doesn't get infected. So in his infinite wisdom doesn't listen to me. So I go over to just check up on the dog today and find him all laid up can't walk and the cut laid wide open. I called him talked to him and he said that I didnt know what I was talking about and it's better to leave a cut wide open so the dog can lick it. And that he's doing alright do he doesnt need the pencilin. So I just left the dog to suffer the way he wants it to. He expects the dog to be better in twoweeks. I told him leaving the dog all open it would take atleast another month if not more to be able to go out again.

So my question to y'all... What approach would yall have taken..?
*just wondering if I'm the only one that doctors up my dogs like that.
Ive had the same thing happen to mine , sounds like in the same spot also.. I stapled him up and put a tiny drain tube at the end of his cut .. gave him a cc of penn. a day and jus ran a water house on full blast on the cut for a good five minutes .. healed up really good within two weeks
