I wasn’t aware that deer hunting with dogs was banned in Texas. Here in SC it’s wayyy more popular than hog hunting. We have a lot of big clubs that are exclusively for guys running deer dogs. Hopefully y’all can gain some ground in the fight. I think it’s the wrong approach to just try and fight against restrictions. We should all be pushing for MORE rights. If you’re not moving forward you’re stagnant, and that leads to loss and failure. That applies to almost everything in life. That’s also why gun control has been a losing battle for many years. Too many people only care about trying to hold their ground instead of gaining it.

I would love to see deer hunting with dogs in Texas, the outlaws in East Texas were a big part of why it was banned in Texas and why for years hunters could not trail wounded deer with dogs.

Sad for it to go on for so long in Texas, New York state has a single blood trailing dog on lead (Euro style) law since 1984 almost the same time frame deer hunting with dogs was banned in Texas.

This is a step in the right direction by TPWD and I hope to see more of the same.
