Solo Boar

WOW, Deputy Dawg, and I made a hunt on a new place this morning. We didn’t know what to expect but thought we were going to be in hog Heaven. Turned out that either this 217# boar was the only thing there or these these junky ole collie/plotts couldn’t find the others. We cast dogs and they literally jumped this boar not over 30 yards inside the wood line. I believe he was still rooting around for acorns. He broke and ran immediately but 200 yards later he had his jewels submerged in a pond to keep the dogs off of them. We sent JJ, not because he’s better than Loki, but because he’s deputy dawg’s. If I sent Loki I would have to get wet. If we sent JJ then he has to get wet. So it was a no brainer, work smarter not wetter I think is the saying. Then I knew we could literally drive right up to the hog and I knew Deputy Dawg needed some help. So in order to keep WOW from having to walk all the way back to the buggy, I told him to help Dillian and I’d get the buggy. So I ran all the way back and got the buggy 50 yards away and drove it right up to the waters edge. We loaded the hog while the dogs kept on hunting but never found anything. We cast 3 more times but there was nothing there. The dogs were going to cross the Farm to Market highway once so we toned them back. Another time they were going to leave this place and into a neighboring set of woods so we toned them in again. If there ain’t nothing there you can’t find them so we called it a hunt. They were ready to go, for whatever reason they were saying they were cold.
