After we talked our wives into letting us go hog hunting on Mother's Day, the three of us plus three kids headed to the river for a morning hunt. We unloaded and sent out Trailer and Sheila to a marshy thicket in the corner of a wheat field. It didn't take them long to bay up a group of hogs in the water. We turned loose more dogs to help and they bayed for a couple of minutes before the hogs broke. The dogs split up and bayed in two places and one was in the middle of the river. Went to it first to watch the dogs in action. The other bay finished before we could get there.

We were thinking about calling it a day but we decided to try one more small thicket in another corner of the field. The dogs were running in front of the 4 wheelers when all of a sudden Trailer threw his head up, nose to the wind and headed straight to a big black boar. Turned loose CD Dozer and Bay and then went in and tied it.
Dogs rolled out again, bayed 100 yards and we went to that one and found Bo and Clyde had bayed the big blonde boar. Took two strong guys to leg him and that's when we realized it had a leg that was short, probably from an earlier gunshot, left him with three legs.

While we were tying him up, dogs went 75 yards and bayed a small sow.

It was a good day with 6 hogs downed, the biggest one was the blonde boar that we guessed him to weigh 275 with 3 1/2 inch cutters on both sides. All dogs okay and we made it home in time to eat hang down and cheese at the picnic table!!
