A plan goes awry

I had been telling Andy I had a good plan for this section of woods that we do not like to run in because all the big hogs want to swim a very big bayou & that leaves you stranded & you have to go get a boat. We'll the plan was to run a section on the other side of the road & we would watch the road & see what comes out & put pups on it & catch the old dogs before they could cross into that section.
We found a good track & put on it & the dogs coldtrailed out. After about 45 minutes the hog was jumped in the canes & the race was on. After running about 45 minutes the dogs started heading for the road & Andy & I got there to wait. We could hear the dogs coming & they were only about 200 yards when a descent size boar crosses about 50 yards from us. We hurried over there & dumped 4 pups on it with the oldest being Andy's year & 1/2 old buckskin plott that I gave him out of my Gypsy dog. We then caught the dogs that had started the hog. We'll as luck would have it, that hog headed straight to the bayou a mile away & swam with four young plotts in tow. We were watching on the garmin as they swam. We had headed down parallel to them but there was no way to cut them off. After making a few calls with nobody having a boat close I decided to go home & get my boat. (1 hour & 15 minutes away) We went & loaded my 4 wheeler & Andy was going to go see if he could get another race going with the dogs while I went to get the boat. I get home, unloaded 4 wheeler, trailor & dogs & hook up to the boat & headed back. had to stop & get gas but I was back i n 3 hours. We launched the boat & headed out. They were 5.80 miles straight down the ship channel & the closest we could get to them was .90 mile. All dogs were showing treed. We started walking in & it probably took us a half hour or 45 minutes to get to them. Only one dog was barking but we could hear the others right there growling & grunting. Sounded like they were caught but it was thick & we sent the bulldog in. Got there & all the plotts were on this boar & he was in the water on the edge of the bank. Right when I grabbed the hog, Andy's dog just fell over backwards into the water so Andy grabbed him & pulled him to the bank. Andy said Pancho was not breathing so I said try CPR. I went ahead & dispatched the hog to help Andy with his dog but we could not necessitate him.
The boar was about 175# with 2" cutters. I have never seen so much damage done to a hog. The dogs had broken 3 of his legs & chewed off one ear with a lot of other damage. All dogs had multiple cuts on them but nothing life threatening
The only thing we could think of with Pancho was he struggled so much fighting the hog, elatic acid build up in his system & he just went into shock. He had a lot of cuts but nothing life threatening. Oher then Pancho dying, we were pretty proud of the other pups. They went 5.87 miles from where we turned them loose to where they caught that hog.
