I only keep catch dogs that will also hunt, short range. Yes, some of them can take a track, like a cur. Loose, I usually run a cut collar and/or chest protector, no vest.

Have to be careful where u let one go at because of cows etc. That being said my dogo ab will track the dogs and pig to the bay kinda funny. She is just training but she has a decent nose it was probally 15 mins old or so turned her loose to them baying she made a wide circle right where the pig had gone b4 going to the pig. She has it figgured out now but her first bay she trailed them lol

you have to break your catch dogs off of things just like to strike dogs, or well bad things happen

I've seen a lot of good bulldogs that would wind and trail out like a cur. Caught a lot of good hogs with em too.

The first hog my ab caught he struck 200 yards away. My dogo will wind from 500 yds all day, I'm sure they both would if I let them! I think any bulldog thats knows what a hog is and loves to catch them can find hogs in fresh sighn or downwind of them/ they just need to be athletic enough to hold on without a heat stroke and given the opportunity
