Went out the other day with my 2 good dogs and my 11m pup to see what he would do. Wasnt planning on baying any hogs so i thought just wanted to watch the pup. Well my to good dogs got out to 1500 yards and was getting close to the road so i called for em to come back. They got to around 700 yards if i remeber . Any ways it said treed. So i started that way( by my self) not the smartest thing to be doing but like i said was just going to watch the pup) when i got there i couldnt believe what i saw. these 2 dogs was circling this big briar patch so i eased up and was trying to count the hogs i lost count at 14 but there was 15 to 20 in there most 150 and up. i ended up busting the bay hogs going everywhere and me trying to get up a tree lol. Just wanted to see has anyone else ever saw anything like this. None of my buddies believed it. LOL

Your right about that and dogs not finishing the track once they start it.

Seen it many many times. I've got a gyp that if no other dogs are around to single them out will go and gather the hogs into a sounder and bunch them. When you catch one, she don't worry bout you or other dogs, just keep with them.
Congrats! Start trying to ease in and see if your dogs will drive them into the open for you.

It happens quite often on some of the places i hunt. Whats fun is when theyll stay bayed and let you yo yo your catch dogs! Take a lariat rope or tie four or five tie ropes together and tie it to your catch dogs collar. Then ease out the slack as it goes in for the catch, not to fast or they'll break and run on you. When he catches one just pull him and the hog back to you. Just keep doing this until they bust. Then then your find dogs can go after the rest, and youll catch a few more. It works real good unless you catch a big hog first, but we have yo yoed hogs as big as 200-225 lbs. One time we yo yoed 9 hogs from 50 - 200 lbs. before they broke and split up. We were using 2 catch dogs. The 200 pounder was the last one and he put up a good fight and made the other ones break. We then caught 3 more after they broke. 12 hogs in about  4 hours. That was a good day, the land owner was so thankful that he took all four of us out for lunch.

Most of the time it is.  But every once in a while theyll stay bayed and let you have some fun. If you get lucky enough to get a place thats never been dogged before then theyll usually bay for you. Their not baying near as much as they use to. I guess its to much pressure from so many hunters.

Ive had it happen half a dozen times, one night we had at least 60 hogs in a group,my dogs barked once and then went silent, they wouldnt bark at any single hog til it ran out at them from the group. When we walked up over the bluff my 2 good dogs were just circling them and everthing was quiet,then....when the hogs sensed us they went to rallying and the noise was incredible,i never heard that many hogs sounding off at once. Here is where i wasnt so proud.....since neither dog would single one out we kicked the bulldog loose(which i will never do again, its a great way to get a dog whooped) but anyway when all the hogs scatterd and the dust finally settled,my bulldog had a 20 pound shoat squealing and both dogs came to him........i was a frustrated man that evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL i left that part out on mine. I cut mine lose he ran up to see all them hogs and he backed up beside me and sat down. He has caught some big hogs but i should have never tried to send him on a crash dummy mission. when they broke my old dog grabed up the smallest one he could find. just wanted to see how often that happens. Wished i would of had a pistol with me could have got a few.
