The best advice is to go with what you know.Myself im fond of BMC but i ran cats,plott redbone cross and treeing walker and of course the walker was open on trail but after awhile with the pack he went silent but was as gritty as my yeller dog.So start with what you have experience with and add a little here and there each person has a preference of breed at least you got a starting point.JMO
