I took advantage of the cool damp morning and loaded up a pair of my cow dogs. This was the gyps very first hunt and only the third time I have taken her brother. They both hunted like old veterans. Dumped them out and they bayed at 3/4 mile. When I caught up to them I seen shoats runnin one way, pigs runnin another, and 4 sows going in different directions. Unbelievably they had picked out the biggest sow and had her bayed in a creek. I tried to ease in and she broke across a big field. They would set her down and spin her around. They would catch her and her big butt would slam their little butts. This went on for 30 minutes in the pasture before she finally drug them into a big thicket. From there on it got even better. They kept her spinning, and every time she tried to break they would grab hold and turn her. She was slamming them into trees and putting a whoopin on them but they never backed off. This went on for 2 hours before it ended. Being by myself with no help I couldn't drag her lard butt out and load her, so ended up killing her. I hated doing it, but I guess she won't root up my hay field anymore. Needless to say they were some worn out puppies. I am proud as I can be, they showed their potential.

Yes sir they are our old blood. I was worried about them getting hot because I've never run cut gear before, but they seemed to do just fine in it, never slowed down.

Real good lookin dogs.  Bobtail?    Buddy of mine had a litter last year out of two old blooded yella dogs and half the litter came up black and tan.

That happens every now and then, my yella gyp is out of Black and Tan dogs and she throws mostly yella with a few Black and Tan pups. I haven't had any bobtails in the last couple generations. There is still a handful of them in Osceola county just hard to get your hands on them
