Got to the woods about 6:00 and cut Gator, and my 8mo old puppy Blaze loose. I brought  a buddy who has never went hog dogging before and he was real excited for his first hunt. Hunted for about 15min when we heard a hog squelling about 200yds out in a flooded flat. the woods are still under water, so when we get to the dogs Gator and Blaze have him about drowned! Took the dogs off of the hog and took some pics and let him go to grow up some.

Lead the dogs about 500yds away and cut them loose again. Walked  for about a hour when we hear a dog chop 3x and then a all out fight. Start running to the fight when the woods go silent. Check the Garmin and the dogs are about 300yds away in a over grown palmettoe flat. Head their way when the dogs start baying!! I can smell a rank boar hog and figure if Gator and Blaze are both baying it has to be a nice one. They are baying him up on a game trail in amongst the over grown palmettoes. Sneak in to about 10yds of the bay and I can see Gator and Blaze baying a big black boar over waist high. I guess he earned their respect when they tried to catch him earlier so they were 2ft away hammering away. I cut my catchdog Clyde to them and watch him rip to the hog and launch for the ear. The hog at the last second spins and Clyde hits him like a linebacker, but he misses the ear and the race is on!!

The hog gets back into the thicket and takes the dogs to a flooded cypress swamp. I can hear the dogs trying to get through the water and they get 200 yds away and back into the palmettoes. I hear a dog chop 2x and then a fight. Thinking they got the big boar I run as fast as I can to them and it is so thick that I cannot see them till I am right on top of them. Should of known it was a different hog because I did not smell the boar. they had a fat big sow caught out. Leg and throw the hog when my buddy gets to me he starts pulling the dogs off and gets them leashed to some trees and comes back in to help hobble up the sow!! I think he is hooked know, said he use to coon hunt with his dad when he was young but it never got him pumped up like this!! Took some pics and decided after walking through water for 6mi it wa time to call it a day!!
